Ohrid Places to Visit

Lake Ohrid is one of the rare lakes with drinkable water.

I think that was the saddest part of going to Ohrid in November.. I could not enter the lake, which looks like glass in front of me.

The Robevi Family’s House is a very large four-storey mansion.. It is possible to see the personal belongings of the Robevi Family on the ground floor.. On the second floor, finds from archaeological excavations around Ohrid are on display.. On the upper floors, the most outstanding examples of Ohrid’s traditional wood carving await you.

Ohrid is 180 kilometers from the capital Skopje.. There is no direct flight from Istanbul to Ohrid.. If you are planning to go from Skopje to Ohrid by public transportation like us, the journey takes 3 hours, but I cannot say that the buses are very comfortable.. The roads are winding and a little rough, but the views you can watch from the bus window are enough to relieve your tiredness.
How to Get from Skopje to Ohrid by Bus?
There is a reciprocal bus service every hour between Skopje and Ohrid.. It is possible to get to the bus terminal in ten minutes by taxi from the center of Skopje.. (130 MKD) We didn’t need to book the ticket in advance because we went in low season, there were already 5-6 people on the bus.
The buses to Ohrid leave from platform 10.. Skopje Ohrid bus ticket price one-way 680 MKD. (11 euro) If you are late, you may miss the bus as the buses leave on time.. There is only one 15-minute break for 3 hours.
Where to Stay in Ohrid?
Although there are many options for accommodation in Ohrid, my advice is to choose one of the villas with a view of Ohrid Lake.. There are many villas to stay in Ohrid Old Town.. We chose Villa Varosh for a two-night stay.

How Many Days to Visit Ohrid?
Ohrid Although it is a small city, it is so enjoyable to visit that we did not want to leave even though we stayed for two days.. Even walking by the Lake Ohrid, sitting and drinking coffee gives you a different peace of mind.
You can easily visit the city center of Ohrid in one day, but there are many places to visit around Ohrid as well.. That’s why I suggest you plan a trip for at least two days. A day trip to Ohrid may make you look behind you, let me tell you 🙂 Three hours from Skopje to Ohrid, commuting in the same day can cause you to have a tiring travel experience.
What to Buy in Ohrid?

After getting our fill of Balkan cuisine in Skopje, we preferred to try the more familiar flavors in Ohrid.. Since Ohrid is a city located by the lake, mostly seafood is consumed.. Highlights for those who say Belvica fish, Plashica fish and trout what to eat in Ohrid that only live in Lake Ohrid one of the delicacies.
There are many restaurants lined up by Lake Ohrid.. Kaj Kanevche, Kaneo, Belvedere Restaurant, Wave Restaurant are among the popular Ohrid places. We preferred Dalga Restaurant on our first evening.
Dalga Restaurant A place in the old city center of Ohrid, where you can have a pleasant time with the magnificent view of Lake Ohrid.. Even though we went in November, we were lucky to have the opportunity to sit by the lake because the weather was nice, but if you go in winter, the interior is also quite spacious.
Seafood at Dalga Restaurant starts from 2300 MKD.. 1 kg of Belvica fish 2300 MKD, 1 kg of trout 2500 MKD. Mixed Balkan plate for two 1150 MKD, chicken shish 350 MKD. We paid 1100 MKD for two chicken skewers together with a bottle of white wine.
The second day we went to Ohrid’s famous pizzeria Pizza Nemo.. Margherita Pizza was 200 MKD, sausage pizza was 280 MKD. The taste of their pizza was also very good.. Pizza Nemo is located on Tsar Samuel Street, very close to Ohrid City Square.
If you want Turkish coffee and brewed tea in Ohrid, you can go to Istanbul Cafe in the Turkish Bazaar. I recommend you to stop by. Since the owners are Balkan Turks, we chatted with pleasure. They even suggested a bakery for us because we couldn’t find a place to have breakfast in the morning. We took our bagels and pastries and had breakfast here with tea.
Turkish coffee is available in most places in Macedonia, but in small cups like ours. not served. (Except Turkish Bazaar) They call it Macedonian Coffee. If you do not specify when ordering, they bring it in a large cup, you can think of it like double Turkish coffee.. It is possible to find many places where you can relax with a coffee by the lake.. Plomari is 42 km from the center of the island of Lesvos.. Due to the nature of the road, this journey takes approximately 50 minutes by private vehicle.. In order to go to this town from Turkey, it is necessary to take a ferry from Ayvalık to Lesbos.. After the ferry ride that takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, the port of Lesbos is reached.. There is a municipal bus service between Mytilene and Plomari that runs 3-4 times a day.. However, without the hassle of the city bus, choose a pleasant journey by renting a car and being included in the nature view.
Plomari with its unspoiled nature, friendly people, historical structures, magnificent beaches, ouzo, olive oil and soap >, one of the most beautiful corners of Lesbos. Those planning a trip to Mytilene should spend a few days in this beautiful town.
After our tiring and intense trip to India, we got out of the chaos and arrived in Nepal, where we said “oh there is a world”. We had a comfortable journey to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, with a 55-minute flight from Varanasi.. Nepal is 3 hours 20 minutes ahead of Turkey and 15 minutes ahead of India.

Someone who goes to work or wanders around the streets completes his prayer by ringing the bell in the tiny temple on the street and applying the red paint inside the temple to his forehead.. A person who has prayed has red paint on his forehead. When you see this, know that that person has prayed. Let’s not forget that the main element of flower worship. During the worship we witnessed in temples, they offer flowers to their gods and light candles.
We were surprised that the fruits we ate did not taste salty, although agriculture is the livelihood of the country.. Especially when we say that the banana is disgusting that we have not eaten in our life, we say it’s like straw, we ate a banana that tasted just like that.. We got our Nepal visa quickly and very easily at the airport for 25 USD (15 days). They came to meet us because our hotel had a pick-up service.. We arrived at our hotel without the need to take a taxi.
