1. OUR DAY ROUTE

I’m dying of excitement. On the one hand, curiosity. Sometimes I feel like I’m exaggerating this traveling, seeing new places, learning, tasting.. ‘Cause it’s a never ending journey. There are hundreds of countries, thousands of cities.

But today I don’t care, none of them. Because the best of them all is Kyoto. I’m not saying. Authorities say. That’s why maybe my excitement and expectations are too high. Dreams are at the highest level. So I’m cutting it short. I’m starting to tell you so you can read and see the first day of the Kyoto travel guide.. Let our tour of Kyoto begin…

1.1 Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion )

As soon as I woke up in the morning, I saw on the cover of a magazine a long time ago, just for the sake of seeing it before I die. We are going to this temple where I will be able to search like crazy and finally look across it for a long time..

1.2 Ryoan-ji

Temple sightseeing today. That’s why we visit the temples in the region in order.. The most mysterious part of the temples is the garden parts.. Here, stones and pebbles on the ground that resemble the sea, adorned with zen philosophy, all have a meaning.

I don’t mind it much.. I actually read a lot.. I forgot again. Because the calmness and simplicity in the garden made me sit and think like many people.. So quiet, so calm. I let myself go. Believe me, I sat and watched the stones for minutes as if I were on a beach.

“Here is the stone.. What will happen!” you can say. That’s what I’m saying actually. But when you enter that atmosphere, something happens and you become a part of that space.. Just as I found peace in Ryoan-ji Temple. (Entry 500 yen. Transportation Bus No. 59)

1.3 Ninna-ji

We leave Ryoan-ji, wandering around the ponds. Everywhere is green. Jump on the bus and Ninna-ji Buddhist temple, one of the most important temples of the Edo period, is our next stop.

By the way, this is a lot of temples we go to, it’s already on the UNESCO World Heritage List. That’s why we didn’t feel like we had to travel one by one.. But I swear, after a while it will all be the same. you know. (Entry 500 yen. Transportation Bus No. 59 )

1.4 Daikaku-ji

As it is slowly starting to become lunch, we eat a snack first. You know what? Sushi, of course. So when you go, it is very likely that you will be addicted to it.. You’ll be eating it like a cookie. Anyway.

Then we make our way to this temple. Again, a place where silence and serenity prevail.. Especially the paths made of wood and the garden furnished with zen philosophy attract my attention.. Write it down. Even if this temple is not on your route. (Entry 500 yen. Transportation Bus No. 91 )

1.5 Tenryu-ji

This temple is my best route in this tour. Let me tell you first. Indisputably, this is Ali’s and my favorite temple and region.. In fact, it is one of the top 5 Zen temples.. I learned it after my return.

Not only the temple, but especially the one in front of the Temple The huge lake and the magnificent forest view behind it caused us to sit for minutes and take dozens of photos, in short, we were fascinated.. 1.6 Bamboo Forest

Located right next to Tenryu-ji, thousands of times in photos, We’re going to the bamboo forest I’ve seen in promotional films, blogs. At dusk, it takes on a mysterious air.

As we take the gentle summer breeze behind us we dive into the forest. Everywhere we wander through the forest, taking pictures with women in kimono, the local Japanese dress. I think I saw a bamboo forest for the first time in my life, and this is Kyoto.. (Transportation right next to Tenryu-ji temple. Unfortunately admission is 1,000 yen )

1.7 Okochi Sanso Garden

There is the famous Okochi Sanso garden right next to the bamboo forest. This place is like a movie. While man has just been lost, he is lost once again.

1.8 Arashiyama Monkey Park (Monkey Park )

We say let’s go back slowly now that it’s literally afternoon. By walking through the forest, this time from a different place, in the forest area in the upper part of Tenryu-ji, by walking through the beautiful bamboo trees, we go to the area where the river is.. It has a wonderful evening view.

Although it’s still the first day and it’s still far from the city We fall in love with this city even though we see a small part of it.. We are concerned about walking along the Katsura river, crossing the bridge in the middle of the river and playing with the animals a bit.. We go to the Monkey park, which is located just at the end of the bridge, but it is closed.

Because everything in this city closes at 5 pm.. We don’t understand when it was 5. We do not demoralize. Because there are 3 hours until evening. We say let’s get lost in these regions a little bit.. We are enjoying Kyoto, chosen as the most beautiful city in the world, on random streets without a route, from place to place.. It should never end. But in vain…

By the way, if you’ve come this far, you can also go to Saiho-ji temple by walking for half an hour.. But since we were out of power, we went to the city center, to Gion, as soon as it was evening.

I just wanted to remind you that maybe you have time. And lastly, there was Katsura Imperial Village.. It was close to. One of the places where the royal family rests. we didn’t go. I thought I’d remind you, in case you’d like it.

1.9 Nishiki Market

We are in trouble to end the day and have a nice meal, since we are out of power.. We go to Nishiki Market and have a nice dinner. As I mentioned before, Nishiki market is the most important shopping and restaurant area in the city.

Especially a note to have a good time in the evenings. As the day ends slowly, we go back to our hotel after watching the activities set up along Shijo Dori street.. We conclude the day to plan a more comprehensive tour of this region tomorrow.

2. OUR DAY ROUTE

As soon as you wake up in the morning, well rested,. we set out to implement the day plan. Actually, today’s route will be a very important route for me.

Because we will finally be able to see the famous Philosopher’s Path.. But let me tell the truth. I don’t expect much. ‘Cause this road is a road that must be walked in Sakura time. But it will still be fun to visit the fascinating temples along the way.. Let’s hit the road.

2.1 Nijo Castle

Today we bought a bus ticket valid for 1 day. So we will reach our destinations by bus. Our first stop is the castle built in the early 1,600s and the palace of Ninomaru in it.

The castle, unlike other castles, is not multi-storey. Not like those 6-7 story castles in Himeji or Osaka.. flatter. (Transportation bus 9-12-50-101. Entry 600 yen)

2.2 Kyoto Imperial Palace

Now folks, this city has been the nation’s capital for over 1,000 years. And for 1,000 years, this palace was the most important administrative center.. Inside, there are gardens, residences, rooms fit for kings…

In short, everything a palace should be.. But you won’t be able to see many places. You can make a reservation online and enter that way.. Be your news. There is an office called Imperial Household Agency Office where Kyoto Imperial Park is located.

You can go here (Monday-Friday) and make a reservation.. But especially between 4-8 April and 31 October-4 November, it can be entered without reservation. (Nearest to Transportation Imadegawa Station. It can be reached by metro or bus. No entrance fee)

2.3 Ginkakuji

Enough of the city center now. In these 2 places I mentioned, in the center of the city. So now the real reason is why we came here, we go to the places we really want to see.. Nearly all of these temples, built on the skirts of lush forests and where peace and quiet reign, are built on the slopes of the mountains that surround the city.

Gardens dominated by the zen philosophy, arranged with incredible care, tiny ponds inside, people worshiping on the tatami without making a sound, the magnificent view created by the rain falling into the lake, the sound of raindrops falling on the roof of the temple…

I am my author.. I write long, long, but I don’t want to bore you.. But I can only say. One of the most peaceful trips of my life was Kyoto, which was the highlight of my trip to Japan.. Maybe that’s why I want to tell you everything one by one. Just so you can experience it once…

Ginkakuji’s Garden

Anyway. This temple is known as the “Silver Villa”. There was the Golden Pavilion or that Kinkakuji one.. we visited yesterday. Here it is located at the foot of the mountain directly opposite it.

It is a wooden building and it was built in 1482.. zen temple. It’s called a silver temple because when the moonlight hits its roof, it takes on traces of silver.

Maybe when you go, you can expect a silver temple like us.. That’s why I said I’d point out. We walk over the bridges built over small ponds and visit this temple and the forest around it, getting wet in the rain.

“If anyone wants to die from oxygen and peace, make sure to make a note of this place. ” I feel like saying. But it turns out this was just the beginning.. You just see what’s next. (Transportation bus number 32, 5,17,100. Entry 500 yen)

2.4 The Path of the Philosopher

I have dreamed a lot in my life. Some came true, some failed.. The way of the philosopher is one of them.. Because, when I saw those photos taken during sakura time, for minutes I was imagining myself walking around the little river under those trees.. I walked. He was in the trees, in the river. But that view was not there.. We will not see everything. Let this be incomplete, right?

Japanese thinker There is a man named Nishida Kitaro. On this road, which is 2 kilometers long, it starts from Ginkakuji and ends at Nanzen-ji temple, he used to walk every day.. Saying next time, we walked along the river and got wet in the narrow streets, and reached our next stop Nanzen-ji temple.

2.5 Nanzen-ji

By the way You will see many temples along the way.. You can also visit them if you wish (Respectively Honen-in, Anraku-ji, Reikan-jiOtoyo Shrine, Eikan Do Zenrin-ji). The temples that I have listed and visited are the most important ones.. You know… Anyway.

This temple is one of the top 5 temples we’ve ever seen.. Make a note of this first.. 13 at the foot of Mount Higashiyama. established in the century. It is a wonderful place where we can feel Zen Buddhism to the very marrow of our bones, I think we sit for 2 hours and watch the rain fall, and get lost in the tiny rooms inside the temple.

In addition, the Hojo garden inside the temple is one of the must-see places.. The pebbles in the garden represent the sea, and the 4 stones represent the legendary islands.. 2.6 Yasaka Shrine

As the day begins to end slowly, it is located in the center of the city, in the Gion district. we are going to this temple. Located in Maruyama  Park, this temple was built 1350 years ago.. Especially the decorations made with lanterns are breathtaking.

How lucky we are We coincide with one of the most important festivals of the city.. This is the heart of this festival.. Therefore, if you come to Kyoto, you should definitely not return without seeing it.

There is no entrance fee.. our favorite. It is very enjoyable to watch the Japanese who come to pray at the Yasaka temple here in the evening.. Wearing kimonos and coming to the temple to pray, the Japanese often swing bells attached to a rope.. Afterwards, they clap their hands twice.. Some throw money, some burn incense. With the light rain, we take a coffee and go to the corner.. We watch people coming to temples for hours.

2.7 Gion

When we say that the festival was a temple, it was a zen garden. We start our wanderings in the hope of looking for geisha in Gion, the most important region of the country and the city, which still manages to preserve its narrow streets and historical texture.

2.8 Pontocho Region

After eating, we experienced a little more energy explosion and the river, which is on our way home and divides the city into 2, We begin to explore the Pontocho region, which is located next to it.. This is now the last stop for today. That’s enough. We must have walked 20 km since the morning.

3. OUR DAY ROUTE

Today’s plan is to go around the temples and areas between Gion and Kiyomizu-dera, starting from the Gion region, and then, famous for its thousands of gates. Visit the area where the Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine is located. Especially, the cafes, restaurants, streets and squares in the area between Gion-Kiyomizu-dera are fascinating friends.

3.1 Kodai-ji

We start our last day by walking around the Gion region.. You know, from the famous historical region that I keep talking about?. Our first stop is the Kodai-ji temple, which was built in 1606 and is one of the most important Zen Buddhist temples in the country.. Also, the bamboo forest here is very, very beautiful.

3.2 Entokuinteien

This temple, located just below Kodai-ji, is actually a part of Kodai-ji. built in 1605. These are all very, very old temples.. We walk around inside and visit tiny rooms.

3.3 Kiyomizu-dera

We are slowly starting to get enough of temples now. I guess the most important thing when traveling really is to be on the streets. You don’t have to see anything. It can be much more enjoyable to sit in a cafe on the street, grab a coffee and watch people passing by, than seeing a temple, church or whatever at work.

Just as we watched tourists, locals, children and the elderly walking around the streets of Kyoto for minutes, sitting in a corner on our way to the Kiyomizu-dera temple.. Sir, this temple is one of the most important temples in the country.. It is even the most fatherly place.. 3.4 Tofuku-ji

We are now slowly starting to finish the temples chapter. But “Let’s see the last 2 temples and finish.” we are in trouble. We leave Kiyomizu-dera and go to this Zen temple, which is one of the must-see temples, especially in autumn.

It has been chosen as one of the most important Zen temples.. Of course, it doesn’t affect us much.. ‘Cause we’re slowly getting enough of temples, friends. But if you come in the fall, be sure to stop by. Especially the bridge in front of the temple and the forest view behind it are perfect for those who love to take pictures.. Tell me. (Entry 400 yen. 3.5 Fushimi Inari Taisha

I would say it is the most important temple of today.. Believe it anyway, “Which is the most different from other temples?” If you say, I’ll sing this temple. imagine a forest. Doors in which thousands of orange colors reign.

The one we call tori.. The tories, which are an inseparable part of the Shinto religion, which is different from the Buddhist religion… These tories were originally built according to their beliefs, since they were sacred.. Later on, people or companies that were successful in business life were dedicated here with their names.. There are so many gates that you start at the entrance of the temple, climb the mountain, walk through many different paths, and walk around the circular area under the gates.

We already know how far to walk. We came here by planning ahead of time.. Actually, this is not a temple visit, but a kind of trekking.. The video of the temple is below.

Fushimi Inari Taisha : Places To Visit In Kyoto

We start climbing the mountain. By the way, we probably took about 200 photos from the very beginning.. we notice it. It turns out that the mountain was already completely covered with doors.. Meanwhile we’re dying of thirst. let me know. Be sure to take water with you. There are small kiosks on the mountain but there was no water left. It’s the place to say we’re dead.

Anyway, we’re walking the paths along the way. There are little temples. The devout Japanese who made vows to these shrines. It’s either money, or objects, or wickets, in what they’re dedicating.. interesting guys. After walking for 2 hours we sit on the mountainside and enjoy the amazing moment and the view of Kyoto. It takes us about 2 hours to go down.
