Saint Hilarion Castle; A Castle in the Beşparmak Mountains of Cyprus. Bufavento, Saint Hilarion and Kantara castles are the three castles of Cyprus built on the Beşparmak Mountains.. Bufavento Castle is located at an altitude of 950 meters above sea level, Saint Hilarion Castle is at an altitude of 732 meters and Kantara Castle is located on a rock at an altitude of 700 meters.
Saint Hilarion was built on two hills on the northern skirts of the Cyprus Beşparmak Mountains. Its castle is 732 meters high and has a wonderful view overlooking Kyrenia and is one of the must-see places in Cyprus.
SAINT HISTORY OF HILARION CASTLE
Saint Hilarion Castle is thought to be one of the castle rings built on the highest points of the Beşparmak Mountains to protect the island people of Cyprus against Arab raids.. Saint Hilarion Castle, whose name was found for the first time in 1191 in the written sources in history, is mentioned in the documents after the British King Richard the Lionheart captured Cyprus.
It was developed during the Lusignan period and beautified. Unlike other castles in Cyprus, the coolness of the garden when the weather is hot and the chance to see one of the beautiful landscapes of Cyprus made this castle preferred by the Lusignan nobles.. The castle also took its place in history as a place where many nobles took shelter when their heads were in trouble. the castle began to be mentioned. After this date, the Castle was extensively expanded and used as both a military outpost and a summer residence.. Later, during the Venetian rule, the castle was neglected and fell into disrepair.
In 1964, the Turkish Resistance Organization, a Turkish nationalist group, regained control of the castle due to its strategic location. Since then, the Castle has been in the hands of the Turkish Cypriots.

Rumors say that Walt Disney was inspired by the rough lines of Saint Hilarion when creating the animated movie Snow White. A local folk legend says that the castle once had 101 rooms, the last of which led to a secret inner garden belonging to a fairy queen. This magical woman was known for seducing shepherds and travelers.
The actual history of the castle is a little less fantastic. The High Fortress is named after the monk Hilarion, who fled persecution in the Holy Land. He lived and died in a mountain cave that overlooks the Kyrenia plain and protects the passage between the coast and Nicosia.

St. Hilarion Castle is reached from the mountain road that reaches the castle in the Bosphorus region of the Kyrenia-Nicosia highway.. The distance of the castle to the center of Nicosia is 24 kilometers, to Kyrenia 16 kilometers and to Famagusta 85 kilometers.. If you do not have a car, you can use a Cyprus taxi.

St. Hilarion Castle visiting hours are between 09.00-17.00 in April-October in summer, and between 09.00-14.00 in winter from November to March.. The entrance fee is 9.00 TL for adults and 5.00 TL for students.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU GO TO SAINT HILARION CASTLE
I recommend that you wear comfortable shoes that do not slip on slippery ground when going to the goal.. Because not all parts of the castle are flat. You walk on rocks that have been worn and worn for centuries. And there are still 480 steps to climb to see the top.. The castle is at a high altitude so you should be prepared for sun and rain. We were caught in the rain just as we reached the summit and got wet.. My advice to those who go to the Castle, especially in the summer, is to go to the castle in the morning.. I can’t imagine your situation when you are in the heat of noon in the summer of Cyprus.. I can even hear you say “There is an attempt at Kale, don’t ask for my exit, be the moon”. There is a WC, a cafe and a shop at the entrance of the castle to meet your needs.

Plomari is 42 km from the center of the island of Lesvos.. Due to the nature of the road, this journey takes approximately 50 minutes by private vehicle.. In order to go to this town from Turkey, it is necessary to take a ferry from Ayvalık to Lesbos.. After the ferry ride that takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, the port of Lesbos is reached.. There is a municipal bus service between Mytilene and Plomari that runs 3-4 times a day.. However, without the hassle of the city bus, choose a pleasant journey by renting a car and being included in the nature view.
Plomari with its unspoiled nature, friendly people, historical structures, magnificent beaches, ouzo, olive oil and soap >, one of the most beautiful corners of Lesbos. Those planning a trip to Mytilene should spend a few days in this beautiful town.
After our tiring and intense trip to India, we got out of the chaos and arrived in Nepal, where we said “oh there is a world”. During the worship we witnessed in temples, they offer flowers to their gods and light candles.
We were surprised that the fruits we ate did not taste salty, although agriculture is the livelihood of the country.. Especially when we say that the banana is disgusting that we have not eaten in our life, we say it’s like straw, we ate a banana that tasted just like that.. We got our Nepal visa quickly and very easily at the airport for 25 USD (15 days). They came to meet us because our hotel had a pick-up service.. We arrived at our hotel without the need to take a taxi.

But first, let’s list the must-haves and some information you need to know for those who are considering coming to Nepal:
