Visa Free Access to the Red Sea: Diving in Aqaba
No lie! We were not aware of the diving opportunity here until we bought a ticket to Jordan and planned a trip.. Until I looked at the map and saw the city of Aqaba, which, together with Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, has a tiny corner on the Red Sea coast… I don’t know if it will replace Sharm El Sheikh, which we had to postpone due to visa problems. Definitely a great spot for diving.. If you are determined to meet the Red Sea without dealing with a visa, diving in Aqaba should be among your Jordan plans.

Is It Worth Going to Aqaba?
Let me start with the most basic…
Jordan’s only seaside city Aqaba, a port that has preserved its importance for centuries due to its strategic location.. Due to this feature, it has certain historical remains as it is under the protection of different nations.
Today, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone has been created within the scope of Jordan’s development plan.. The part of this feature that interests us as tourists is as follows: Since it is a low tax or completely tax-free zone, the number of industrial and logistics companies is quite high and is increasing day by day; therefore, part of the city looks like a sweet seaside town with historical beauties, and part of it looks like an industrial city without a soul.. This is my opinion.
The main event of Aqaba, which welcomes hundreds of thousands of tourists every year, is the opportunity to dive in the Red Sea.. If you have less than 5 days in Jordan, there are legendary spots such as Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea, but there is no need to spend time in Aqaba just to see the city or to have a sea vacation, without mingling with underwater.
But if you dream of seeing the colorful underwater of the Red Sea, then coming to Jordan and skipping diving in Aqaba may be cause for regret. there is nothing to do but diving.” don’t think what i said. As I mentioned in the Basic Information Jordan Travel Guide», if you are planning to make a plan where you will get direct transportation from Aqaba without involving Amman, you can visit the city’s museums, historical and cultural sites during your stay here. You can visit the cultural spots and have a pleasant time on the streets where the crowd is not missing until late at night.. It is definitely a much more beautiful city than Amman.
The answer to the question is as follows: If you are not going to dive, it is not necessary to include Aqaba in the route you start from Amman.. But if you are interested in underwater, definitely come.

How to Get to Aqaba?
The biggest advantage for those coming from Turkey is King Hussein International, the airport in Aqaba from Istanbul. There are direct flights to the Airport, but you can take advantage of this opportunity only 3 days a week.. For days without a direct flight, you must transfer from Amman or another Middle Eastern city.. Remember to take this into account when planning your turn.. Competent divers know when they can board the plane as soon as possible after diving, but it is worth reminding again.. In fact, diving companies ask about your flight time when making a reservation and dive you accordingly..
Aqaba is by car 5 hours from Amman; 2 hours from Petra; It takes 1 hour from Wadi Rum.. Jordan is a great option for “road trip” as they are all on the same route.

Another way to arrive in Aqaba is from Wadi Musa Bus Station in Petra or from Wadi Rum local minibuses. The minibuses, which operate between 06.30 in the morning and 15.00 at the latest, leave when they are full.. Hours of operation on Friday are subject to change.. If you need to move after these hours, you can negotiate with taxis.

Setting a Diving Company in Aqaba
If you get excited before you set off and get into the booking business right away, you will see that there are many diving companies on the internet.. Multiply the number of companies you find by 10 or even 20; There are so many dive companies in Aqaba! All of them have sufficient equipment; if it is not enough, they supply it from a company in a side shop.. So you don’t need to make a reservation before you go.. When you go there, it is more comfortable to talk face to face, and you have the chance to negotiate.
We started to go around the companies around 08.30 in the morning of the day we were planning to dive and ask for the price.. Many hadn’t even had their shutters open! The few companies that we found open were – what a coincidence – the most professional ones.. But we have seen that there are serious price differences even between them.. When we asked the highest bidder why, “The air in our cylinders is of better quality.” We got an irrelevant answer.
Finally, it’s affordable, reassuring the King of Jordan for diving, loves the Turks so much and gives us a discount for this reason, and also has a Turkish dive-master Mr.. We agreed with Frogman. “Our weather is better.” We did not regret the decision we made when we saw that those who said that there was air in their cylinders here.. We were extremely pleased with their sincere approach and the advice they gave at every step.. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who has a plan.

Diving prices in Aqaba are generally as follows:
If it’s your first time diving, one-time test dive $40 including equipment rental It ranges from -$50. If you prefer a boat tour instead of entering from the shore, this price goes up to $100.
Prices for licensed divers vary depending on the chosen spot and equipment, but single dives without equipment are usually around $40. .
We Mr.. We paid $100 per person including equipment rent for 3 dives (Rainbow Reef, Cedar Pride Wreck, First Bay South) we arranged at Frogman. There were 5 people including the guide in our first dive, and only the guide and us in the other dives.. So it was like personalized diving. Transportation from the city center to the diving point is also included in the prices.
Diving Points in Aqaba
Since we have not seen all dive sites, it is not possible to write a review one by one, but I can talk about the points we dived and the recommendations we received while there.
• Cedar Pride Wreck (Ship Wreck)
The Cedar Battleship from the Second World War was sunk in the Red Sea waters at the request of King Abdullah in 1985. This giant shipwreck, 80 meters long, covered with colorful corals until today, is Aqaba’s most popular diving spot.. (So you enter, if you are a competent diver and you have convinced the guide) If the atmosphere of the group is sufficient, you go around and return.. If you have only one diving right, this should definitely be the spot you choose.. It is suitable for divers of all levels as its lowest point is at 24 meters.
• Rainbow Reef
As you enter from the shore, this diving point where corals start at a depth of 6 meters deserves its name until the very end.. We couldn’t see it, but one of the most popular creatures here is sea horses! I didn’t even realize that I was about to freeze in the water thanks to the visual feast of lionfish, balloon balloons, colorful anemones and Nemos walking among them.. If you are going to try diving for the first time, I would definitely recommend this spot.
• First Bay South
As you can see from the map, the advantage of this diving spot, which is located on a beach a little far from the center, is that the view is very high and there are no people.. The less people, the more alive.. Especially night dives are said to be legendary.. We dived during the day, even that was enough. Visually, it tastes like Rainbow Reef, but with a little more depth; descends up to 30 meters. This may be the place for snorkelers alone.. When you start swimming from the beach without even having to join the tour, you will see corals.
If you want to dive in the coral field, First Bay North or Japanese Garden are also places you can choose.
• The Tank (Tank Wreck)
The tank wreck, whose deepest point is 6 meters, seems to have become popular because it is a good photo spot rather than underwater life.. This is the most preferred place for those who will try diving for the first time.. The information we got while we were there was this: The area where the tank was immersed was completely sandy; so there is not much life. “When you get here, what you will see is a tank and 3-5 fishes swarming around it.” We did not dive into this tank wreck because it was called. If “I also have a photo with an underwater tank in this life.” it may be different if you want, but just seeing this place and saying, “Diving in Aqaba was very rough.” don’t say later. Also, you don’t have to dive to see this place, and snorkeling will do the trick.
• C130 Hercules Aircraft Wreck (Aircraft Wreck)
Another spot that is as popular as a tank wreck and we haven’t dived yet, C130 Hercules Aircraft plane wreck. Since both wrecks are very close to each other, they usually take them both in one dive.. The features are the same; This is a sandy area and less vitality.. In addition, since the plane wreck was sunk only 6 months ago, no coral formation has started yet.. 5 years later, different things are talked about, but for now, all you will see here is an underwater plane.. Of course you can go if you’re interested, but my advice is to see the real beauties of the Red Sea while you’re here.
Where to Stay in Aqaba? Accommodation in Aqaba
Because it is a small but very touristic city, there are many hotels in Aqaba that appeal to all tastes.. If you want to not only dive but also have a sea holiday, you can use resort hotels with beaches.. After a day of staying in a Bedouin tent in Wadi Rum, where we were covered in red sand to our every cell, we moved to Aqaba for a little while. we searched for comfort and chose Lacoste Hotel. However, despite its high scores and positive reviews, we were not very satisfied; we thought we didn’t get our money’s worth.. There was a serious cleaning problem both in the restaurant section and in the room; The breakfast was below our expectation, I guess it would suffice if I say that they poured a shaker tea into a large teapot and served it; the attitude of the staff was strange. On the bright side, it was right in the city center, close to many dive companies and nice restaurants.. Room rate per night was $114. You can find a hotel for a lower price that you will leave more satisfied, but I will still share the link» in case you like it.
Food and Drink in Aqaba
Aqaba’ What to eat? I think the last thing you will have a problem with in Aqaba is feeding. Because there are countless alcoholic and non-alcoholic cafes and restaurants serving Jordanian and Middle Eastern delicacies or international cuisine in the city center.
Al Shami is a good alternative where you can taste Jordanian dishes.. It has a small but pleasant terrace to sit on; Unfortunately, it is too crowded as it is a very popular place.. Still the service is very fast and the food is delicious. We paid 11.5 JOD ($16.2) for the dinner, which consists of soup, salad, chops, mint lemon and free appetizers for 2 people. You can try Buffalo Wings&Rings. The place is very big, it has a wide open space. Great for a beer after diving. We paid 22.92 JOD ($32) for 2 chicken wings, 1 beer and 1 long island.
If it’s a good alternative for seafood, Rovers Return. We enjoyed every dish we ordered.. This is one of the places where you can find alcoholic beverages.. We paid JOD 28.10 ($39.6) for the big fish, shrimp dinner and 2 beers.

• Frankly, we didn’t do a touristic trip in the city because we only focused on diving.. If you have time and energy, you can visit the Sharif Al Hussein Bin Ali Mosque, the Mamluk Fortress, the old Islamic city of Ayla, and the souks in the city.

Things to do in Plomari
The so-called ‘old town’ in the center of the town, which is one of the oldest settlements on the island, is where you can witness typical Greek architecture.. Two-story, bay window, mostly wooden houses line the narrow streets.. It is essential to enjoy walking among the historical houses on quiet and calm streets without traffic noise and to breathe the atmosphere of the town.

There are 3 different museums in the town that appeal to enthusiasts. Varvayianni Ouzo Museum, Lomari Isidoros Arvanitis Ouzo Museum and Soap Museum are must-sees to see the most important production tools for this town.. The hospitality and warm welcome at the museums make people happy.
Where to stay in Plomari

Plomari is 42 km from the center of the island of Lesvos.. Due to the nature of the road, this journey takes approximately 50 minutes by private vehicle.. In order to go to this town from Turkey, it is necessary to take a ferry from Ayvalık to Lesbos.. After the ferry ride that takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, the port of Lesbos is reached.. There is a municipal bus service between Mytilene and Plomari that runs 3-4 times a day.. However, without the hassle of the city bus, choose a pleasant journey by renting a car and being included in the nature view.
Plomari with its unspoiled nature, friendly people, historical structures, magnificent beaches, ouzo, olive oil and soap >, one of the most beautiful corners of Lesbos. Those planning a trip to Mytilene should spend a few days in this beautiful town.
After our tiring and intense trip to India, we got out of the chaos and arrived in Nepal, where we said “oh there is a world”. We had a comfortable journey to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, with a 55-minute flight from Varanasi.. Nepal is 3 hours 20 minutes ahead of Turkey and 15 minutes ahead of India.

Whether Buddhist or Hindu, everyone can easily perform their daily rituals according to their religious beliefs.. There are enough temples in the city. Someone who goes to work or wanders around the streets completes his prayer by ringing the bell in the tiny temple on the street and applying the red paint inside the temple to his forehead.. A person who has prayed has red paint on his forehead. When you see this, know that that person has prayed. Let’s not forget that the main element of flower worship. During the worship we witnessed in temples, they offer flowers to their gods and light candles.
We were surprised that the fruits we ate did not taste salty, although agriculture is the livelihood of the country.. Especially when we say that the banana is disgusting that we have not eaten in our life, we say it’s like straw, we ate a banana that tasted just like that.. We got our Nepal visa quickly and very easily at the airport for 25 USD (15 days). They came to meet us because our hotel had a pick-up service.. We arrived at our hotel without the need to take a taxi.

But first, let’s list the must-haves and some information you need to know for those who are considering coming to Nepal:
Take a mask. Too much air pollution in the city. If you don’t want to walk in dust and smoke, take your mask.
Bring walking shoes. The roads are very bad and dusty.. If you don’t want your nails to get dirty, wear sneakers.
Those who come to Nepal by plane should get a free map from the airport.. The map you will get from the hotels is not very descriptive and guiding.
Visit the bookstores in the Thamel area. There is a wide variety of books, magazines and many products for anyone interested in books, not just travelers.
Buy LP-Nepal. If not, you can find it in Thamel.. But those who do not want to buy definitely need a guide in the temple areas.. But for me, the temples and the figures carved on the temple do not mean anything, if you only want to take pictures of them, you do not even need a guide.. They charge up to 100 rs from tourists, don’t give more than 25 rs. For your information! Locals don’t like discounts in Kathmandu.
