“How can such a small country become so famous in the world with its history? Even though it is right next to us, how could it be that Greek food is more famous in the world than our food, with its history and its history? Are they really better than us, or are we lazy about marketing strategies? We were going to Greece‘s Capital, Athens, to find out the answers to these questions I was looking for the most.. My Athens trip notes begin.

1. Getting Started with Athens

I’ve been and didn’t like possible capitals. For some reason, it always leaves an impression on me as suffocating, overcrowded, stress-inducing silly cities.. It’s good to say from the beginning.

I’ll be honest. I didn’t like Athens either.. Maybe after a while, quiet, calm, natural places like Santorini, which are not crowded anymore, impressed me more.. I always say. We are getting old…

In Greece, I went to Mykonos, Athens, Chios > and Greece travel guide articles you can find the answers to all the questions you are looking for.

After completing our Mykonos-Santorini route, softly Santorini’ we are leaving. After visiting Santorini for the last time during the day, we board the ferry departing from the bay in the evening.. Guess why it’s afternoon ?

Just a note: Check out the 10+ articles I wrote about Greece at Greece.

Because we intend to take a sea voyage by watching and enjoying that wonderful sunset again. While the sun was slowly falling asleep over the Aegean Sea, we were moving towards Athens.. As I mentioned before, these ferries are quite safe and have everything in them for food and beverage.

However, your only problem was that the distance between the two cities was 350 km and this journey would take around 8-10 hours.. So, if you are one of those who can’t stand long journeys at sea, I recommend you to take a plane from Santorini to Athens.

Santorini travel guide from my article, Santorini You can see my travel notes.

In case you get bored on the ferry, there is internet on the ferry for a fee.. Taking advantage of this, we linger a little. At the same time, we are enjoying the moment and doing research to drown in the details about that famous Athens.

By the ferry departing from Santorini We’re Going to Athens

There’s nothing like refreshing the information before you go. “Oh, what a beautiful building, just for taking pictures.” Rather than saying that, it is necessary to know the history of that building, the reflection of the artistic effects of the period, and its texture.

Although, 10 minutes after reading and seeing, the human brain forgets immediately, but at least it is much more valuable than numbers and writings to remember memories by being engraved in their heart.

That’s why I’m not one of those who always read a lot, but one who advocates that those who travel a lot know.. If you tell me, maybe I can’t tell. But the silly smiles on my face sometimes make me say it in a much, much better way than dozens of words that come out of my mouth.. This is true for some of the buildings I saw in Athens.

2. About Athens

We arrive at the port in the middle of the night. This time not Rafina port but. We use the port of Piraeus. You know, when I was going to Mykonos, I was saying that we went from Rafina port?. I wanted you to know that this time there is another port. There are 2 big ports in the city. According to him.

But this Piraeus is in the center of the city. Inerinmez metro stop is right here.. About 4 million people live in Athens. capital of the country. It is even the capital of the ancient Greek civilization.

Athens

The name of the city comes from the goddess of war, Athena.. As you know, a line of gods took away from these lands in the past.. That’s why you can always see the symbolic traces of these ancient civilizations in many historical buildings and ruins.. Athens varia Athens is the capital of the only European country that does not have a mosque open for worship.. If you pray and fulfill your worship, you will not find it.. Let me know.

Now we have to drown in a sea of history a little bit about this city and society. There are some countries, you are alone in history.. You can’t finish praising someone about nature.. some art. Some are culture.

Here I will be praising Athens with the history and the architectural structures they left behind.. But as I mentioned while writing my articles about Greece, it did not affect me much.. After Rome, this place won’t cut you. Let me tell you from the start. Let me even point out, friends, after visiting our Aegean region, Athens is a place where you will laugh and laugh.

I am not an ultra-nationalist person.. I respect societies, nations, races, arts, thoughts, whatever humanity they left behind.

Temple of Olympian Zeus (Magnificent) Temple of Zeus)

But our society is a nation that does not show off a bit, emulates other cultures, and is a nation of news about its own culture and beauties.. I’m sorry, we are. My humble advice to you is, if you are looking for historical buildings, first discover my dear country.. By God, besides the historical buildings in the Mediterranean and the Aegean, I only say “Pleasant” to those in Athens. i just said. I wanted you to know. Just a little suggestion for you…

Anyway… Where were we? The history of the city dates back 3600 years.. It is a city where thinkers such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle were born and democracy rose up in the world.

It takes its name from the Greek goddess Athena. Athena, daughter of Zeus. Now it’s very confusing from here. I still don’t know what I understood or how to explain what I understood.. As we say, this Greek history affected the world.. That’s why these myths became very popular because they affected the Romans and even other societies, and this has increased their awareness.

If you are wondering how to find cheap flights to Athens, Best flight and train ticket sites see my post.

Basically 12 Gods adopted by emperors. All of these Gods were in human form according to their beliefs.. All of these Gods have different characteristics and these Gods are known as the rulers of the world in Greek Mythology.. For example, Zeus is known as the “King of the Gods.”

Hera, wife of Zeus. By the way, there are actually 13 gods. Here, this number 13 is never broken.. If one goes in, the other comes out.. I said 13 if you’re aware. What about those unlucky numbers?. In essence, whenever one God comes in, another comes out.. Just so there wouldn’t be 13 Gods.

Long story short I’m not good at Greek mythology. I did a lot of research from start to finish.. I have read. Seems like nonsense to me. I also found a resource in case you are curious.. He summarizes the situation here.

Since we’ve passed the gods part, let’s talk about the last few centuries.. 4th century. These lands were ruled by the Eastern Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire from 1821 to 1821.

While Orthodox Christianity prevailed in these lands, Islam began to spread under the Ottoman rule.. But still Christianity is the most common religion. It left the Ottoman Empire in 1821 and was founded under the name of “Greek Kingdom.” >

Athens

Later, the Athenian administration took all 12 islands from the Ottoman Empire. Between 1821-1945, that is, 125 years, between 1821 and 1945, always siding with the victorious imperial states, they increased the area of the lands approximately 10 times against Istanbul.

Currently it is a member state of the European Union and a country that is almost at the point of bankruptcy, in order to get the support of those powerful imperial states and to survive.. The country, which is at the cradle of the economic depression, is almost at the point of selling or renting its lands.

Especially the powerful states of the European Union ask for financial support and initiatives from leading countries such as Germany and France.. We are still waiting. Let’s see how history will take shape.

3. Transportation in Athens

How to get to Athens? How to travel in Athens? Ok, I got bored with the date.. I’m sorry. I thought I’d give you some detailed information about a country we are so close to each other, and don’t forget how old it is in terms of history.. Let’s get to the point. Transportation ?

Have you looked at the Greece travel guide ? Actually, I wrote a lot about transportation there.. Let me summarize though. You can come in 3 ways.

Airline ; How to get to Athens? There are frequent flights from Turkey directly to the capital Athens.. Companies such as Pegasus-Atlasglobal-Aegean Airlines-Borajet-THY organize reciprocal flights to Athens or other Greek Islands.

If you are going by plane cheapest point would be Athens. If you are coming from Izmir or another city, I suggest you take a look at the search engines.. If you book early, it can cost 200-300 TL for a round trip.. If you want to go from the airport to the city, you can take the metro.

Athens Metro Lines

You will use the blue line and you will pay 8 Euros for one way and 14 Euros for a round trip.. It will take about 40 minutes and it works from 6:30 to 23:30.

As for air tickets, definitely “Best flight and train ticket sites” see my post. I wrote one by one how to make your flight ticket costs cheaper.

If you want to go by taxi, it will cost 40 Euros.. If you wish, you can also reach the city center by bus.. X95 line bus can be used. However, it will be an hour and a half journey.. For your information. The price is 5 Euros. If you are going to the port of Piraeus, X96, bus station X93. Buses run 24 hours. FYI.

Seaway ; There are 2 ports in the city. Flea and Rafina. In these 2 ports, there are ferries from our country, both from Istanbul and from Izmir, and even giant cruise ships. You can see the times and routes of the ferries on their sites.

If you are going to cruise, there are many companies.. We used Rafina port on our way to Mykonos.. On the way back from Santorini, we used the port of Piraeus.

We took the bus from the airport to Rafina.. You’ll see when you get to the airport anyway.. Works pretty easy. On the way back, after reaching Piraeus Port, we reached the city center with the M1 metro line.

You can set foot on many islands in Greece by ferryboat.

Highway ; Another way is to come by road.. Many bus companies can go directly to Athens. One of them is Deryatur.. Click for the website.

Or if you wish, you can cross the border with your own vehicle and provide transportation.. But unfortunately I do not know what the documents required to travel by car are.

If you are going to enter from the border with your car, I say do your research well.. I wanted to remind you that you cannot get in the car you drive in Turkey and leave the country as if you were going from Istanbul to Antalya.

After that, we took the bus to Tirana, the capital of Albania.. You won’t have any trouble finding tickets.. However, don’t expect a huge bus station like ours.. The situation is a little different here. Ask your hotel. He will already tell you the situation.. I’m talking about a journey that takes about 10 hours.. I will explain it in detail in my Albania article anyway.

If you are in the city transportation, you can use the metro.. Especially Monastiraki Square is the heart of the city.. Most attractions are very close to this square.. You can reach important touristic spots by using the metro.. Estimated daily cost will be 3-5 Euros. You can also use a taxi if you wish.. Very convenient in taxis. You can reach everywhere by paying 5-10 Euros for short distances.. I’ve included the city’s metro line above so you’ll be familiar with it.

4. Food and Drink in Athens

What to eat in Athens? What to drink in Athens? Everything I wrote in the Greece travel guide and in Mykonos applies here as well.. The meals are the same. Only the atmosphere and view are different. Athens is a place where city life prevails.

As for scenery, you can dine at a nice restaurant overlooking the Acropolis.. In particular, Monastraki and Plaka are ideal places to eat.. However, if you have eaten seafood in Mykonos and Santorini, you may not like the restaurants in Athens at this point.. We had an experience that ended in quite a disappointment, even though we were paying for the world.. That’s why I say.

My Favorite Greek Salad-Greek Salad

“Where and what to eat in Athens ?” For those who say: Click here to see the 30 best restaurants in the city. In the areas I mentioned above, you can have a nice dinner in the evening against a wonderful view of the Acropolis.

Prices are usually around 60 Euros for 2 people.. If you want to cost cheaper, you can also choose the kiosks on the streets.. You can even have dinner for 5 Euros.. Especially around Monastraki is a touristic place.. The further you go out, the more affordable the prices.

5. Accommodation in Athens

Where to stay in Athens? How much are hotel prices in Athens ? In terms of accommodation, we did not see a place that would impress us much after Santorini and Mykonos.. That’s why I can’t talk about impressive hotels like I wrote in Santorini and Mykonos.. However, the view from your room can overlook the view of the Acropolis, one of the most famous and historical buildings in the world.. There are plenty of these hotels in the city, too.

See my article “The best hotel search engines” for hotel finding.

Places to stay in Athens especially on Syntagma Square, Ermou Street, in Plaka area and Near >Acropolis. In my opinion, the best area to stay in Athens is Ermou street or one of the streets that lead here or a place close to Acropolis, you can choose between these two areas.

Acropolis view from the hotel in Athens

So you can visit the city’s attractions as well. and you will be close to the metro and bus lines, where it is easy to reach the city from the airport.. Hotel, hostel or home quality is up to your budget.. You can choose your hotel at www.booking.com and even from Hotelscombined.com.

I show the hotels on Booking but When I saw how cheap the prices at strong>HotelsCombined’ were, I wanted to mention it.. You can also check the prices of the following hotels one by one on Hotelscombined.com.

For hostels, make sure to look at the hostels from the link Hostelworld.com. By the way, the hotel/hostel you will choose may differ on dates such as seasons, weekends, and special days, take this into account in your planning.. In addition, the EUR exchange rate is one of the main factors in the changes in prices.

I am now telling you about the hotel options one by one.. All of these hotels are in the heart of the city.

The hotel for me is not so important, if you are one of those who say they will hit my head and sleep at night and if you want to socialize with people from different countries, like me, hostel is a good option for you.. In my opinion, I would say stay in a hostel at least once, especially in your younger years.. Let’s get to the hostel suggestions.

    • Athens Backpackers, whose nightly price is 60 TL per person, only 150 meters from Acropolis
    • 60 TL per person per night Another hostel, Small Funny World Athens
    • Starting from 37 TL per person per night, Zorbas Hostel is one of the low-budget alternatives since it is close to the metro

You guys < I have classified the hotels in Athens as above.. I think these alternatives will help a lot in Athens accommodation.

    6. Entertainment-Shopping-Nightlife in Athens

How is nightlife and entertainment in Athens? Where to have fun in Athens? At this point, the city will offer you plenty of alternatives.. You will get lost in the streets of Plaka district and have fun in Gazi district. If you wish, you will shop in small passages. They will share in the entertainment of the Greeks in the taverns until the sun comes up, and “Welcome, neighbor.”

    Entertainment

The most fun thing in the city is getting lost in the historic streets and passages and meeting the business owners. make love. Also in Turkish. Yes. A lot of tradesmen speak a lot of Turkish.. Especially the old people did not forget Turkish after the population exchange period.. People welcome you very warmly.

    Streets of Athens

Everyone said, “Don’t look at the televisions, neighbors.. These things are political.. They make us hurt each other.” they say. Therefore, prepare yourself for these conversations in advance.

Anyway, if you want to check what kind of activity is happening in the city on the date of your visit, they have prepared a very nice site. Click here.

    Shopping

What to buy in Athens? Where to shop in Athens? There are no huge shopping malls like ours in this city.. luckily not. Instead, there are areas with small boutiques and shops like our arcade.

Plaka and Monastraki host very nice shops for shopping.. While you’re at it, you can buy trinkets, handicrafts, antiques, jewelry, ornaments, and paintings of this historical city.

Also, on the way from Monastraki to Syntagma (Sintagma) square, the most famous street of the city, there is a place called Ermou Street. there is. If you are looking for world brands, then this is your stop.

Another region will be the Kolonaki region.. However, this is a little out of place.. If you go to Lykavittos Hill, you can also visit the world shops in Kolonaki area.. Also, olive oil, which you can find in most places, and high alcoholic beverages, Ouzo, are among the ones that can be bought while returning.. Let me know…

    Athens Nights

    Night Clubs

Where to go for nightlife in Athens? There are 3 important regions in the city. One is the Monastiraki region, one is the Plaka region, and one is the Gazi region.. Especially in Monastiraki and Plaka area, there are usually taverns.

Nice places to eat and drink ouzo with mostly live music. These 2 regions are very close to each other.. Just below the Acropolis. Plaka is known as the old town district of the city.. Greeks love to have fun despite the crisis.

But of course not a Mykonos. Let’s say it from the beginning. However, the prices are quite affordable.. Beers are around 2-4 Euros, cocktails are around 8-10 Euros.. Mnissikleous Street is a good place to start the night if you are starting the night in the Plaka area, just below the Acropolis.. You can sit on the stairs, drink beer and mingle with the youth here.

We need to go to Athens with a Schengen visa.. What is a Schengen visa you can read the details in my article.

You can sit in any cafe on the left or right of the street.. If you want to have 2 glasses of something against the view of the Acropolis at night, A For Athens Coctail Bar may be a good choice for you.. All of these places are close to each other.

If you want to dance until the morning and have fun, you should go to Gazi region.. When you go, you will see that nearly 20 nightclubs will be at your disposal.. But weekdays are not like weekends.. Let me tell you from the start. It can be reached from the city center by metro or taxi.. When you go, you choose the club you want. Especially well-groomed young people are in this region.

As you can see, there are many alternatives in Athens.. As I always say, I don’t like to give too many venue names one by one.. The budget speaks for these things.. People have already made a very good list. Click here.

A few important information for my younger brothers and sisters.. You will see prostitutes on every corner in this city.. Especially hundreds of young girls who migrated from the Balkans will block your way.. Despite everything, I suggest you be careful.

    7. Where are the places to visit in Athens?

Where are the places to visit in Athens? How to get to places to visit and see in Athens? This post is too long. just ask me. More than 50 countries, I don’t know how many articles. I’m dying. But at least I’m refreshed. Both my memories come alive and if I go again, it will be a good resource for me.

Let’s go to places to visit.. I told you that this city didn’t affect me that much.. Because in terms of history I was expecting more builds. However, I think there are around 10 important places. I have listed them below for you one by one.

    1. Our Day Route (We Started from Monastraki and Walked Along the Blue Dots to Adrianou 3)

I even drew it on Google Maps, whatever route you need to take. So, in your mind, “I wonder where this building stays in the city?” There is no question mark like. You can also reach almost all of these structures within walking distance.

Or you can reach them by taxi or subway.. At this point, transportation will be child’s play.. But as always, we were one of those who walked under the heat of how many degrees it was roasting.. Why ? Because life is beautiful on the street. Let our Athens tour begin…

    • Monastiraki : It’s hot. just like our place. like Fethiye. It makes people suffocating. We feel it as soon as we leave the hotel. First we go to this square, which is the heart of the city.. Whatever Taksim or Sultanahmet is to us, this is in Athens.. By the way, there is a flea market here on Sundays.. FYI.

Monastraki-Domed Building Mosque and Acropolis on the Hill

    • Ancient Agora of Athens : We are going to this very beautiful historical site, which is just within walking distance.. Although it is possible to see historical ruins all over the city.. We do not forget to buy a combined ticket, which will be valid in many museums.. Attention !!!

    Gora

Instead of buying tickets one by one, we will go everywhere anyway. For this purpose, we are eliminating the combined ticket business. In this region, which is known as the commercial, social and political center of Athens, different buildings such as museums, temples and warehouses have been preserved very well.

In fact, it is the best preserved area after the Acropolis. Once inside, we see how many buildings there are on the map, one by one.. There are many structures that have stood tall for 2000 years. Congratulations, my Greek friends.

    • Plate : After lingering in the Anient Agora of Athens for 1-2 hours, a little We continue on our way, getting lost in the stone-paved streets of Plaka district, which is within walking distance to take a breather and eat something.

    Plaka Streets

The kiosks, restaurants and boutiques on the right and left of the streets draw my attention. The area was known as the Turkish quarter during the Ottoman period.. We walk into a random restaurant. Brother speaks Turkish directly to us. Begins to reminisce about the past. We are having a nice chat. I love meeting random people.

    • Acropolis Museum (Acropolis Museum) : Strolling around this area today and visiting the famous Acropolis in the evening we say let’s go. Before going to the Acropolis, it is not possible to stop by this world-famous museum.. Sculptures, friezes and historical artifacts are exhibited in the museum.. Even in the Acropolis, many historical artifacts are exhibited here for protection purposes.

The most interesting thing is that this museum is already built on a historical area.. So instead of looking around, sometimes you can look where you step and see the historical city under the glass covered floor.. As I mentioned before, with the combined ticket you will buy, you can see this museum and enter the Acropolis.. Don’t forget…

    Acropolis Museum (Acropolis Museum )

    • Acropolis (Acropolis ) : Now it’s time to see the most beautiful little by little. We start climbing the temple, which is located at an altitude of 152 meters in the very center of the city.. Let’s not forget that we are leaving the Anafiotika region on our way out.

If you follow the Acropolis signs from the Acropolis Museum, you will pass through this area.. It is necessary to go this way because it is the ideal way to depict the city and historical site from different angles on the road.

Acropolis-Athens</p pThere are walls, castles and ruins in the region.. According to all, we reach the peak point. Along the way, people start to question things.. The fathers of many architectural works that are an example to the world are exhibited here.. Sculptures, bronzes, tools used at that time. In short, everything. It consists of 48 rooms and 2 floors.. They said it must be seen when you come.. We loved it too./pul style="text-align: justify;"listrongExarchia District :/strong We say let's get lost in the back streets after leaving the museum. We are exploring this area where they say, "Oh, there are anarchists in those areas. Be careful", but where we have never encountered such a thing, which is the heart of the city, especially in street art.. First, we start from Exarchia Square, the heart of the region.. We're getting lost and wandering.pp id="caption-attachment-2601" class="wp-caption-text"Exarchia District/p/lilistrongErmou Street :/strong We return to the center of the city. We are slowly chasing something to eat and drink again. We look at our way by walking from this street known as Nisantasi district of Athens.. We have the power.pp id="caption-attachment-2602" class="wp-caption-text"Ermou Street/p/lilistrongSyntagma Square (Constitution Square ) :/strong As soon as these famous streets are finished, they take us to the famous square.. First, we start from this square, which is the Taksim square of our Greek brothers.. It is also the heart of the city in terms of transportation network.. At the same time, when there is an important event in the country, the people gather here.. But do you think there is anything to see? Here is the square…pp id="caption-attachment-2603" class="wp-caption-text"Syntagma Square/p/li/ulpstrongParliament Building : /strong The main reason we came here is to see the Parliament building just across the square.. This place was used as a palace city before and later as a parliament building./ppSo you know, statesmen and politicians run the country from here.. The building was built in 1836-1842.. Doesn't have much of a joke. But watching a moment in front of him when the soldiers turn the changing of the guard every hour into the most important event in the world is much more important than seeing the building.. We're lucky…/pp id="caption-attachment-2488" class="wp-caption-text"Parliament Building/pullistrongNational Gardens :/strong Parliament We wander through this park, which is located just behind the building, and take a breath.. We get some relief from the sweltering heat of summer./lilistrongZappeion Building :/strong As soon as we pass the park, this building appears before us.. To tell the truth, we didn't have the slightest idea until we saw it.. We later learn that this was a building used for important ceremonies or meetings.. Next is an interesting stadium that I will see for the first time in my life.. Panathinaiko Stadium. The location of this stadium, which means Beautiful Marble, is different.. Because this is a place that hosted the first Olympic Games in 1896 and the whole stadium was built of marble.. We're walking around. It's slowly starting to become evening now. Before enjoying the sunset, we say let's visit this last region. The construction of this huge temple, which began in the 6th century BC, was completed by Hadrian./li/ulpActually, there were 104 columns.. But 15 of them survived.. This is the largest known temple in Greek land and a temple dedicated to Zeus. In the following years, it was attacked and lost its former glory./pp id="caption-attachment-2492" class="wp-caption-text"Temple of Olympian Zeus/p<

    • Hadrian’s Gate (Arc of Hadrian ) : It is said that this gate, located right next to the magnificent Temple of Zeus, was built to celebrate the arrival of the Roman Emperor Hadrian to the city.. That’s a bullshit job. They honor the emperor and dedicate this gate to his contributions to the city. Its construction date is 131 AD

Hadrian’s Gate (Arc of Hadrian )

    • Lykavittos Hill (Wolves’ Hill) : We are tired. It’s time to rest. Let’s see the city from the highest point. We’re going to Ploutarchou Street. We jump on the funicular that takes us to the top of the city.. We are now at the highest point of the city. Athens under our feet. (On the city map I added above, you will follow the route I indicated with the red arrow.)

      Lykavittos Hill (Wolves Hill)

Looking at what I wrote. But there are places to visit in Athens. There is a lot of space, but the part that comes to mind is less. Especially the Acropolis. And the Ancient Agora of Athens region is very beautiful.. But as a city, it didn’t blow the butterflies in my heart.

Maybe let’s say it didn’t cut it after the islands.. Still, it is a nice route to relax for 2-3 days and get lost in the streets, parks, squares and museums created by a culture close to us.. I wrote almost everything one by one to you as best I could.. But just in case, you can do more detailed research and complete the points I left out

    8. How many days to stay in Athens ?

Memory of Acropolis View from Filopappou Hill with My Travel Friend Muhammet

How many days should we stay in Athens? I think 2 days is definitely enough for this city. I already made a 2 day plan. However, if you are going to comply with these plans, you must be up at 9 in the morning at the latest.. you know. If you say let’s spread out a little more and complete the missing parts, you can spend 3 days.

    9. What are the things that should not be done in Athens without doing it?

    • Without visiting the Acropolis every inch
    • Without getting lost in the city squares and parks
    • Without having fun in taverns and nightclubs
    • Without tasting local food and drinks
    • Without watching a beautiful sunset in the evening
    • Without knowing the culture of the country and the city
    • Without shopping in its passages and streets
    • Without going to the roofs of the buildings and seeing the view of the Acropolis both day and night

    Streets of Athens

my return friend. Athens gives you most of what you are looking for to have a good time with both entertainment, culture and city life.. Allows you to travel in a foreign country without being a stranger. people are comfortable. It’s a small city. You take care of yourself. It can be a nice route for a getaway.

    10. When to go to Athens?

Which month or season to go to Athens? Don’t go in the summer. Although we went in June, we cooked. Who knows how July and August will be. If you’re good with heat, you still know.

    Athens : Greece (Lonelyplanet)

My humble advice It will be Autumn or Spring. Especially April-May or September-October. In addition, these periods are even cheaper than other periods.

    11. What are my suggestions for you in Athens that I didn’t do?

    • I didn’t name too many churches if you noticed. We visited a few churches, that’s all.. Visit if you are curious.
    • There are more than 2 museums in the city that we went to.. If you have the opportunity, go to the others.

    Athens View in the Evening

We had a good trip Athens. When I took a look. We visited almost all the important places.. But you travel more, see more, enjoy more, fall in love more…

    12. My warnings about traveling to Athens

    • My first warning. Leave this Turkish-Greek enmity aside and go with a clean mindset.. my biggest request. i love greek people. I found us so close. Such warm blooded people. I’ve never been a stranger. I’m sure you won’t too.
    • Don’t have dinner before 9pm. I say guys are comfortable. self-indulgent. The later you eat, the more fun you will have.. Life starts late here.
    • Make sure to go knowledgeable about Greek mythology and culture. It’s a never ending journey. I still think I don’t know anything about it.

Don’t forget to buy a combined ticket too.. When you see a historical building, the first time they ask you for money, ask.. So you don’t have to deal with individual tickets. It’s also more affordable.

Streets of Mykonos: If you’ve been to Athens, you should definitely see Mykonos

    <

The last stop of our Greece tour, which is well known not only by Europe but also by the whole world, was Athens.. We had fun in Mykonos in a very nice week, we witnessed wonderful views in Santorini, we got our fill of art and history in Athens. Would I come again? I run… This time I complete the missing islands and other cities.

I loved these people very much.. I loved your food. I love hot-blooded conversations. Just go and see. Taste this.” I’m not saying if you know. Talk, meet, try to understand people by looking into their eyes. Traveling is not just about going somewhere and having fun, eating and drinking.

To live the people of that culture, that geography. Living like them and getting to know them. Once you grasp this, you will see that seeing places is just a tool.. The main job is to be on the road, keeping up with the changing geographies and getting to know the neighborhoods and streets where societies live.. Unfortunately, I realized this when I traveled to 30 countries, completed Europe on my own, and went on my Asian travels.. A nice, humble recommendation from me to you.

Our next stop .. stop. The country that I didn’t like at all, where we got bored, maybe we went to the wrong city.. Albania…

Ouzo’s Birthplace Plomari, Mytilene

Published

on

By

Greece‘s greenest island Lesbos owes its green nature to water resources. Lesbos, the third largest island of the country, has lush forests, water springs, tiny canyons, endemic plants and incredible mountain views.

The island’s second largest city, Plomari, is and places that manage to stay away from the negative effects of urbanization due to its geographical location.. When you say the second largest city of the island, Plomari is not a city-like place.. The size that we can call the largest town or seaside resort in Turkey.. With its scattering mountain villages, the population of 7 thousand finds it difficult.

Plomari Square

With its pristine beaches, historical wooden houses, small taverns, plane and olive trees, coffee houses and views, Plomari journey is one of the best options to get away from it all.. No matter how crowded and active the center of Lesbos is, Plomari experiences the opposite.

The birthplace of Barbaros

As Captain-i Derya, the first captain of the Ottoman Empire Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha, who was the pasha and the great admiral, was born in Plomari in 1473.. Although there is no trace of Barbaros in Plomari, this name is very important for the history of the seafaring town.

Akrasi, Ampeliko, Megalohori, Neohori, Paleohori, which is known as Plomaritohoria on the south coast of Lesbos The town, consisting of the villages of Plagia, Trigonas, has a strategic location.. Dominating Chios in Greece and Karaburun in Izmir, the town has a deep-rooted trade tradition.

Beautiful photos can be taken in the side streets of Plomari

The place where ouzo and olive oil soap were first produced

strong>

Within the Greek islands, 19. Turning into one of the most important centers of industry, commerce, production and maritime trade in the mid-century, Plomari is also the place where the Greek national drink ouzo was first produced.. Today, just like raki, the quality of ouzo is measured by the water used.. Since Plomari has the best quality drinking water sources in the geography of Greece, the aroma it adds to ouzo is noticed everywhere.. There is no production today, except for a few ouzo workshops.. Plomari, with its beaches and cultural tourism, is a region where European, American and Turkish tourists spend more time in high season.. Since it is not very well known, the region, which is not crowded and uncomplicated, is ideal for those who want to relax and have a peaceful holiday. Ouzo, which he throws, is consumed in a similar way in coffee houses today.. Drinks thrown together while playing backgammon or chatting with friends accompany the pleasant conversation.. Unlike Turkey, the coffeehouse culture in Greece also includes the offering of liquor.

ouzos produced in Plomari

Because of the ouzo production, it is between Lesbos and Plomari. there is serious competition. What makes the cute town one step ahead of this competition is the quality water source and the qualified anise grown in the region with aromatic plants.. It is possible to count Pitsiladi, Yannaçi, Varvayani and Plomari/Isidoro Arvaniti among the ouzos that have become brands in the town.

Things to do in Plomari

The so-called ‘old town’ in the center of the town, which is one of the oldest settlements on the island, is where you can witness typical Greek architecture.. Two-story, bay window, mostly wooden houses line the narrow streets.. It is essential to enjoy walking among the historical houses on quiet and calm streets without traffic noise and to breathe the atmosphere of the town.

There are many shops, shops and coffee houses around the big plane tree in the city square.. After wandering the streets, it is quite enjoyable to relax, have a drink and chat with the local people.

The beaches, each carrying the blue flag, which are chirpy in the summer season, are an unforgettable experience for those who love sea, sand and sun holidays.. Agios Isidoros Beach is shown among the few beaches not only in the region but also in Greece.

Oceanis Cafe

Make sure to try frappe, one of the cold drinks consumed by the Greeks.. Iced coffee, which is prepared by adding milk and sugar according to preference, is available in cafes and coffee houses in every corner of the town.. One of my suggestions is the Oceanis Cafe, where we sit to drink frappe with its stylish design.. Souffle is around 3€, waffle is around 4€, frappe is around 2€, Turkish (Greek) coffee is around 1.5€.. When you sit in all restaurants and cafes, a large glass of water is offered free of charge.. Get immersed in life by sitting in the cafes that stretch towards the beach and the port.

There are 3 different museums in the town that appeal to enthusiasts. Varvayianni Ouzo Museum, Lomari Isidoros Arvanitis Ouzo Museum and Soap Museum are must-sees to see the most important production tools for this town.. The hospitality and warm welcome at the museums make people happy.

Where to stay in Plomari

There are nearly 25 accommodation options in the charming town.. Among these places that can be preferred according to the budget and accommodation concept, there is also a hostel, a luxury studio.. So before you go, decide exactly what kind of place you want to stay.. I stayed at Frini Studios on my trip to Plomari. There is a special 10 percent discount for Keşfetsek at the property that got full marks from me for its hospitality and approach.. Check out my Frini Studios post for discount details and a closer look at the facility.

The Mytilene-Plomari Road

How to get to Plomari

<

Plomari is 42 km from the center of the island of Lesvos.. Due to the nature of the road, this journey takes approximately 50 minutes by private vehicle.. In order to go to this town from Turkey, it is necessary to take a ferry from Ayvalık to Lesbos.. After the ferry ride that takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, the port of Lesbos is reached.. There is a municipal bus service between Mytilene and Plomari that runs 3-4 times a day.. However, without the hassle of the city bus, choose a pleasant journey by renting a car and being included in the nature view.

Plomari with its unspoiled nature, friendly people, historical structures, magnificent beaches, ouzo, olive oil and soap >, one of the most beautiful corners of Lesbos. Those planning a trip to Mytilene should spend a few days in this beautiful town.

Nepal Arrival

Published

on

By

After our tiring and intense trip to India, we got out of the chaos and arrived in Nepal, where we said “oh there is a world”. We had a comfortable journey to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, with a 55-minute flight from Varanasi.. Nepal is 3 hours 20 minutes ahead of Turkey and 15 minutes ahead of India.

From Victoria Subirano’s book named A teacher in Kathmandu so that you can get an idea before you come to Nepal. you can watch the movie “A Mirror in the Sky” which he freely inspired. It is the film that reveals how the education system in Nepal works, poverty and mysticism.

Kathmandu is located in the valley at the confluence of the Vishnumati and Bagmati rivers.. There are dozens of temples hidden between its streets.. While it is difficult to breathe from the exhaust fumes in its narrow streets, it is certain that you will discover many things in the company of colorful shops, peddlers, bookshops and local people.

A blend of 2 religions, It is very possible to see that Buddhism and Hinduism coexist in the country where it is intertwined, and this unity is reflected even in objects and temples.. Whether Buddhist or Hindu, everyone can easily perform their daily rituals according to their religious beliefs.. There are enough temples in the city. Someone who goes to work or wanders around the streets completes his prayer by ringing the bell in the tiny temple on the street and applying the red paint inside the temple to his forehead.. A person who has prayed has red paint on his forehead. When you see this, know that that person has prayed. Let’s not forget that the main element of flower worship. During the worship we witnessed in temples, they offer flowers to their gods and light candles.

We were surprised that the fruits we ate did not taste salty, although agriculture is the livelihood of the country.. Especially when we say that the banana is disgusting that we have not eaten in our life, we say it’s like straw, we ate a banana that tasted just like that.. We got our Nepal visa quickly and very easily at the airport for 25 USD (15 days). They came to meet us because our hotel had a pick-up service.. We arrived at our hotel without the need to take a taxi.

We wrote the details and places we visited in separate sections to be more descriptive.

But first, let’s list the must-haves and some information you need to know for those who are considering coming to Nepal:

Take a mask. Too much air pollution in the city. If you don’t want to walk in dust and smoke, take your mask.
Bring walking shoes. The roads are very bad and dusty.. If you don’t want your nails to get dirty, wear sneakers.
Those who come to Nepal by plane should get a free map from the airport.. The map you will get from the hotels is not very descriptive and guiding.
Visit the bookstores in the Thamel area. There is a wide variety of books, magazines and many products for anyone interested in books, not just travelers.
Buy LP-Nepal. If not, you can find it in Thamel.. But those who do not want to buy definitely need a guide in the temple areas.. But for me, the temples and the figures carved on the temple do not mean anything, if you only want to take pictures of them, you do not even need a guide.. They charge up to 100 rs from tourists, don’t give more than 25 rs. For your information! Locals don’t like discounts in Kathmandu.
. If you are going to shop, know that they sell you exponentially more expensive.
Although not everywhere, 25% tax is charged in many restaurants and cafes.
Have dinner at Northfield Restaurant in the Thamel area.. There will be a pleasant dinner next to a cozy wood fire accompanied by Nepali music.

Entrance fee to all Durbar squares.
Kathmandu Durbar Square : 750 rs.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square : 1100 rs.
Patan Durbar Square : 500 rs.

Eat jujudhav yogurt in Bhaktapur. We should have paid 25 rs for 3 yogurts, but because we are tourists we paid 150 rs

Eat Daal Bhaat. It’s like Indian Thali.

Eat Momo. A dish resembling a tibetan dumpling. Vegetable, buffalo meat, chicken options are available. A little spicy and bitter.

During the time we were in Kathmandu, we made kora in Buddhist temples, translated mantras and sent our wishes to the universe in the fastest way, we worshiped according to God in Hindu temples :), We photographed the most beautiful examples of Newari architecture, followed closely the funerals of the cremated dead in accordance with Hinduism, practiced their rituals, respectively, Svayambhu Mahachaitya (Monkey Temple) temple, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Bhaktapur, Changu Narayan Temple, Kathmandu and Patan Durbar Squares. SummaryArticle NameNepale ArrivalDescriptionAfter our tiring and intense trip to India, we got out of the chaos and arrived in Nepal, where we said “oh there is a world”. Gdansk Travel Notes: Better Than Poland!

Published

on

By

There are some places that I came across somewhere and noted down and I couldn’t wait to go… Here is such a special route for me in Gdansk

I have been on my master’s degree for almost a year. Since I live in Brescia, Italy, I plan to visit various cities in Europe in combination.. I chose Gdansk first and said I’d go to Norway from here, to Alesund…

Gdansk Overview / Famous “Pencil Houses” of the City

My Plane Could Not Land in Gdansk

Here come the time, I went to Alesund and even got on the plane to Gdansk on the way back!

Oh what a plane ride…

While getting on I knew there was 55 km/h wind in Gdansk but I guessed it would be okay. But we couldn’t land on our first try, it passed, the plane was rocking like a cradle!

I Shared Those Moments We Couldn’t Land in Gdansk on Instagram @gorkemliyollarcom

An airstrip I was on for the first time in my life he had to pass, luckily the pilot managed to land in Gdansk on our second attempt…

It wasn’t a very good start, but I’m welcome Poland

Trying to go to Gdansk Glowny <

Finally Gdansk!

If the plane landed so hard, you should also think below, it’s as if I don’t come from the Norwegian fjords but went there, it’s so cold, wind, rain all together…

Since I got off at 10 pm anyway, I’m in trouble to go to my hostel and sleep You can actually reach the center directly from Gdansk Walesa airport by bus. But the buses after 11 o’clock leave at a different station called Wrzeszcz, and from there you reach the central Gdansk Glowny train station by commuter train.

That’s exactly how I got to the city and my hostel, but thanks to the Polish, who helped me while I was waiting for the bus. Thanks to a college couple…

Hello Gdansk / My First View in the City / Going to a Hostel

About Gdansk

Good morning from Gdanks!

This is Poland’ A city located on the Baltic Sea in the north of. Actually I visited all the Baltic countries and I loved it very much, but they said to Gdansk that this is Poland, you are not exactly Baltic

I mean this is Poland but Gdansk I think It’s even more beautiful than Poland…

Morning Hours / Walking By Motlawa

I’ve visited the capital Warsaw before, but now Gdansk is getting me pretty excited, let’s see what we’ll see…

Since my hostel is located at the northern end of the city, I also start walking from the riverside towards the center.

Yes, Gdansk is a typical Baltic city… I say that this city also has islands, rivers and plenty of water

strong>

Too Much Wind, But Not Without a Selfie

The Spirit of Gdansk: Motlawa River

Our River is Motlawa!

If I follow the Motlawa river, Gdansk’ It means I can almost completely tour the city. Because the city consists of this city and the small islands it surrounds.

First of all, when I come across a beautiful Gdansk text, she says OK. um I’m in the right place…

I Love Those City Names You Must See Me To Understand The Wind…

The Famous Cute Pencil Houses of Gdansk

The first thing I want to tell you in Gdansk is actually Houses that make up the unique architecture of this city.

In fact, although you can see similar ones in other cities of Germany and Poland in general, the ones here are more characteristic.. Thin and long, crooked, colorful houses like pencils!

Famous Pencil Houses of Gdansk / I Found This Name If I Found It In The Sun From The Tip, A Selfie Immediately…

And to the bottom aren’t they built?

Sweetly narrowing the top floors…

I admit that I saw the aerial view of these house-filled streets and fell in love with Gdansk and I thought I should see it. . Yes, maybe I won’t be able to see it from the air, but I’ll still see it.

“The top floors, which narrow down sweetly…”

There Could Be A Modern Building Without Destroying The City!

But here it is one thing to visit and see another photo of it.. The photos did not have modern siblings of these typical Gdansk houses either!

Yes, as a civil engineer, I noticed the modern buildings in Gdansk from the very first minute. Because the modern structures here are “we are modern” They don’t smirk They went and built with a nice modern interpretation of architecture similar to their old brothers.

I can’t say I’m not impressed with this work, Gdansk can still be visited after 50 years…

Modern Gdansk Houses I Like Very Much, There Are Some More Futuristic As Well… These Also Provided a Nice Transition / Modern-Old

Is Crane One Of The Attractions In Gdansk?

Now by the riverside While walking on the promenade called “Deptak Nadwodny”, I see one of the first things that come to mind when I think of places to visit in Gdansk.

What is that Crane?

Interesting place in Gdansk Crane The River And The Crane Look Better Here

Yes “Crane” is one of the interesting structures in Gdansk. This used to be a crane building used to load ships. If I said old, of course.. century is quite old The original state is destroyed, but the current one is worth seeing.

There is the Black Pearl of the pirates of the caribbean a little further ahead, there are nice photos, try it here…

Black Pearl is also here <

Like the Harry Potter Scene: Mariacka Street!

I’m diving down the river into Mariacka Street now

Mariacka at first sight became my favorite place in this city!

I feel like I’m on the street where I’m going to choose a wand for Hogwarts. “Hagrid, where do we get the wand?”

Can it be without a photo Mariacka Street

In Gdansk, you can feel an interestingly slightly British air; mysterious buildings painted in a depressing style, staircases in front of houses small courtyards and magnificent artistic details…

These small courtyard houses on Mariacka Street are boutique shops! Local products, gifts or jewellery, whatever you are looking for. All meticulously furnished with excellent details, this place can be studied for a few hours.

Magnets Here from the Map Detailed Shops in Mariacka Are So Sweet

Across the river side of the street, the huge St.. Mary’s Church…

Undoubtedly, it is one of the most magnificent buildings in the city, you can go inside and have a look at it.. Mary’s Church Is Also Visible

The Rain Follows Me

Just at that moment I’m being caught in the rain!

If it rains, I have a solution; raincoat and my umbrella…

Now it’s time where the heart of Gdansk beats; Long Sunday!

Long Sunday With Shaking Rain

Long Sunday

Long Sunday ie Długi Targ is a classic Polish style market-square. I don’t know why these guys built such thin and long squares, but it happened

As the name suggests, this is a long market area. If I said market, it means small peddlers and generally the shops lined up along the square, better if I say square…

Long Market / Długi Targ

You can see the most beautiful of the typical cute pencil houses of Gdansk that I mentioned in the Long Market.. The ones here are a little more historical and have wonderful decorations.

Also, I think the most eye-catching structure of the square is Gdansk Town Hall.

Gdansk Town Hall with its golden inlaid tower and legendary beauty. The clock may be the most magnificent structure in this city!

The Long Market and the Magnificent Gdansk Town Hall

Gdansk, the City of Gates

My market is at one end of the street, the Golden Gate is at the riverside end there is also the Green Door…

I forgot to mention; Gdansk is the city of gates

You can often see these gates in the old city centre.. It is generally built like 2-3 storey private buildings and has arch-shaped openings from the inside and you enter and exit the square and the street from there.. Especially the Golden Gate is another beautiful one, don’t miss it…

I’ll be visiting soon The Golden Gate / The surprise is gone! The Sun Is Clearly Opening The Gates of Gdansk: This Green Gate by the River

Is it a Rainbow?

And these gates are rain shields for me! Because I’m stuck at the door leading to the river from Long Market, it’s raining heavily

But a few minutes later, “the sun?”

If there’s rain and sun, let the rainbow come !

My Rain Shield Behind the Green Door I Watch Gdansk with Rain and Sun; Delicious!

Things suddenly turn upside down in Gdansk, it’s sunny now

The weather in the city has really changed with the sun and rainbow. Those depressing houses have turned into bright spring colors, now It’s time to wander the streets and take photos a lot.

The Rainbow Has Arrived Can I Pass Such An Unforgettable Moment Without A Photograph? This Is The Back Side

Gdansk’s Islands

I set foot on one of Gdansk’s islands from the Green Bridge in front of the Green Gate. I say island, but it is a part of the city I say so only because rivers run on both sides.

This is also a very touristic area, but it is under construction for now, that catches my attention the most. lots of mobile sweet sellers I see around. Poland’s sugary pastry desserts are in vain, definitely try it!

Here’s the Island for You Just Kidding The River Divides A Wonderful Street I Discovered, Find It “Poland’s Candy Sweets pastry desserts of all kinds”

“The cafes of this city are very nice”

I want to have a snack and rest now. Şso that I can have a little view so that I can both fill my stomach and watch the city

Eat a great boutique pancake shop called “Pan Kejk” on the Long Market I came. There is everything to eat and drink here, and you won’t believe the prices. I got a great sandwich, salad and unlimited coffee for only 15-20 zloty.

I Need to Have a Rest and Eat Something / “Pakejk” Gdansk

Time to enjoy sunny Gdansk. I pass the Golden Gate at the upper end of the Long Market and open to the modern part of the city.

There is a triumphal arch-like gate and another historical building behind the Golden Gate.. You have now reached the wide streets of Gdansk here.

Gdansk Became Another Beautiful When The Sun Comes Out The Golden Gate I Just Mentioned Gdansk Houses Also Shine Differently!

A Little Out of the City, The Environment Is Different

There is a huge modern shopping mall right across the street. It is also possible to see socialist-style buildings when you go to a little bit further in the city. Gdansk dates back to different historical periods. It is a city that has witnessed it too.

I am now finishing my sightseeing in Gdansk.. You might think that this city is an atmospheric place anyway, and all its streets and avenues are special in general, so I say go everywhere

The Other Side of the Golden Gate and the Starting Point of the Modern City, The Shopping Center Just Opposite the Long Market , Trams and Wide Streets A Little Beyond the Shrin You Can See These Types of Buildings Now Some Gdansk Travel Tips!

My Travel Tips to Gdansk
