No international driver’s license is valid in Tanzania.

The part that worried us the most about renting a car in Zanzibar was the police turnaround and the ensuing bribery issue, because in Africa this issue is annoyingly common.

Traffic is very complicated in Stone Town. In the remaining places, the roads are two lanes and very narrow; not even a line in between or on the sides. Some locals drive very crazy. The roads are quite old and full of potholes, a dirt road greets you after you exit the main road.. Everyone is surprisingly stepping on the gas, but the speed limit is no more than 50 km/h on country roads.. You can’t go faster even if you wanted to because the roads are not convenient. For this reason, it takes at least 1.5 hours to go anywhere.

Hiring a Motorbike in Zanzibar – Why Didn’t We Choose?
Zanzibar travel plan we had set our minds to; During our stay, we would rent a motorbike and tour every inch of the island.. Come see, when we started to do research, we decided to give up on the engine and rent a car.. Reasons:
- The scooter, which we refer to as “motor”, and its daily rental average is $30.. In long-term rentals, the price can be reduced by bargaining, but after giving these figures, you can also rent a car.

- We chose two different accommodation areas because we wanted to see different beaches.. It would be impossible for us to carry our suitcases with a motorbike while transferring between hotels, and extra transportation costs would arise.. Especially when we spend the whole day outside, we go with two big bags when we say water, sunscreen, towels, cameras, tripod.. The motors we were going to rent would not be very safe with these items.
- Distances are short in Zanzibar, but because the roads are bad, they move slowly.. It was not very comfortable for us to travel on the motor from morning to evening for 8 days, but 1-2 day rentals can be fun.

As a result, we decided to give up on the bike and rent a car in Zanzibar. Let me share with you the preliminary research I have done about motor leasing and our observations on the island:
- Since the roads are narrow, it seems that driving a motorbike is much more comfortable than driving a car.. While staying in the coastal areas, it would be very enjoyable to rent for a few days and tour the surrounding area.
- There are so many places that rent motorbikes, even beach boys will try to rent it for $30 an hour.. Cars and engines are quite old in Zanzibar, rented vehicles can be neglected. So it can let you down. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary to rent from reliable and referenced places.
- Although we went in the driest month, August, it rained every day.. Even if you set off on the tropical island when it is sunny in the morning, it may start to rain in the afternoon.. The exact opposite; even when it’s sunny, you can burn very badly in an hour.
Zanzibar Is it advantageous to rent a car in Turkey?
Even though we are in an unfamiliar traffic and the roads are terrible, renting a car in Zanzibar was the right decision we made because it is cheaper than arranging a private transfer and traveling. came. Since we provide transportation to the starting point of all our tours by car, we were able to arrange the activities at a more affordable price.
For example; Jozani Forest tours start from $40 per person. We went directly to the national park area ourselves and entered the forest with the guide there and paid $10 per person. Since we were not dependent on the driver, we were able to constantly stretch our plans according to the weather conditions or our mood that day.. We spent a long time in the place we liked, and continued non-stop where we did not like.
We discovered lonely beaches where there were no tourists, especially in the southeast region.. While walking around these beaches, we had a chance to leave our excess items in the car that we did not find safe to carry at that time.

The rental system also works in African standards.. The vehicle can come with an empty tank or a full tank.. During the worship we witnessed in temples, they offer flowers to their gods and light candles.
We were surprised that the fruits we ate did not taste salty, although agriculture is the livelihood of the country.. Especially when we say that the banana is disgusting that we have not eaten in our life, we say it’s like straw, we ate a banana that tasted just like that.. We got our Nepal visa quickly and very easily at the airport for 25 USD (15 days). They came to meet us because our hotel had a pick-up service.. We arrived at our hotel without the need to take a taxi.

But for me, the temples and the figures carved on the temple do not mean anything, if you only want to take pictures of them, you do not even need a guide.. They charge up to 100 rs from tourists, don’t give more than 25 rs. For your information! Locals don’t like discounts in Kathmandu.

I set foot on one of Gdansk’s islands from the Green Bridge in front of the Green Gate. I say island, but it is a part of the city I say so only because rivers run on both sides.
This is also a very touristic area, but it is under construction for now, that catches my attention the most. lots of mobile sweet sellers I see around. Poland’s sugary pastry desserts are in vain, definitely try it!

Eat a great boutique pancake shop called “Pan Kejk” on the Long Market I came. There is everything to eat and drink here, and you won’t believe the prices. I got a great sandwich, salad and unlimited coffee for only 15-20 zloty.
