Published

on

One of Thailand’s most beautiful islands, Koh Phangan is also known as the Party Island of Thailand.. 20,000-30,000 people flock to this island when the Full Moon Party. After the party is over, there is no one left on the island.. Actually, I didn’t come to this island to party.. I took the train from Bangkok, as my Laos visa is due in 1 week. I thought I’d relax and take a little vacation. On top of that, when the famous Koh Phangan Party coincided, I had one of the best trips of my life.. I have prepared the 1-week experience I spent in Thailand’s Ko Phangan island as a guide below.. In this article, not only about the island of Koh Phangan; If you are going to make a trip to Thailand, you can find information about almost every place.. (Be sure to read my other articles from the relevant links.)

Information About Koh Phangan Island

First of all, let me give you quick information about Koh Phangan Island. Let’s start with When to go to Koh Phangan.

It’s hot here 12 months of the year.. Especially in summer, monsoon rains can happen.. I do not recommend going during these months.

Actually, it can rain every month.. But when you say when is the right time to go: December-April period.

Koh Phangan Beaches and Beaches

Less chance of encountering rain during these periods. Even the weather is just like summer.. Well, if you want to know what else you need to know, let me mention them.

  • Thai currency Thai Baht. 1 dollar is around 32 Baht. You can change your money in many places on the island.
  • Actually, I would say go not only to Koh Phangan, but also to many other islands.. Before you go to Thailand, definitely: Never make a plan without reading all our articles from the link THAILAND. This would be my top recommendation.. Those articles will be incredibly helpful.
  • 20,000 people either live or do not live on Koh Phangan Island
  • There is no airport on the island
  • But there are hospitals, banks, in short most of them. necessary facilities are available
  • The most important thing to do on the island is to have fun on more than 20 beaches.
  • There are 2 words you will hear a lot on the island: Koh and HAAD
  • Full Moon party is held every month. Whichever day is the full moon, the party is held that night. There are small parties before. Actually there is a party every day. Don’t worry anyway. I explained everything line by line below.

Koh in Thai : means ADA. HAAD means Beach.

1. Where and Map of Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan is located in the west of the Gulf of Thailand; Located halfway between the islands of Koh Samui and Koh Tao. You can see the location on the Koh Phangan map below.

I will also touch on the issue of getting to Koh Phangan island, but I need to make a few warnings first:

If you are going to Thailand, read the articles that I will talk about shortly.. I came to Thailand 4 times and wrote almost everything in those articles, line by line.. After reading those articles, you can come to know everything about Thailand trip.

Where is Koh Phangan Island map location

<

First of all, writing Thailand Travel Guide; followed by Thai Islands; After reading my must-have Thai Food article, you are ready for a trip to Thailand.

By the way, if you were to ask how many days are enough for Koh Phangan: 3-4 days would be enough.

We wanted to stay for 1 week and live comfortably in vacation mode.. We were even going to go to Koh Samui for honeymoon or Koh Tao islands for exploration, but we were lazy.. There is a lot to tell, but I will mention all of them in order.

2. How to Get to Koh Phangan

Now sir. Before going to Koh Phangan, there is the issue of how to get to Thailand. Thailand is a Visa-free country. That is, up to 30 days.

If you are going to stay more than 30 days, you need to get a visa.. If you enter the country from neighboring countries, you can stay for another 30 days.. We wrote the DETAILS in my THAILAND VISA article. You can see it more clearly there.

If you are going to Thailand by plane, buy your plane ticket early.. I have a THEY article on this subject. My suggestions in that article are helpful.

After arriving in Thailand, you can reach Koh Phangan island in 2 ways.. Now let me explain what they are, in order :

The best way to travel around Koh Phangan is by motorbike

How to Get to Koh Phangan by Air

There is no airport on the island. But there is an airport in Koh Samui right next to it.. So, fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui; From there you can take the ferryboats to Koh Phangan.

Don’t forget to read my post in Bangkok

By the way, it’s a must when it comes to transportation in Thailand Use that 12goasia site. There is no better site for transportation than this. You can view it by clicking HERE.

Finally, this mode of transportation can be expensive. One-way flight ticket prices are equivalent to 100-150 dollars. Because the airport is small and very few airlines operate flights.. That’s why it’s expensive.

Reaching Koh Phangan by Train or Bus

Here’s what I did. Why ? Because there was no place where we stayed until the last minute;

On the way to Koh Phangan, there is a port city called Surat Thani.. All buses and trains pass here. They bring you to the port, from there you take the ferry. Once you arrive on the island, you can rent a tuktuk or motorbike and reach your hotel.

Now I will tell you how I came from Bangkok, but no matter where you come from, the system works exactly the same.

1 The dollar is around 32 Thai Baht

If you’re coming from Bangkok, I’d say use sleeper trains.. It is around 700 baht one way and you can reach a beautiful yacht and the journey takes around 11 hours.. Trains are not bad.

Koh Phangan is home to such beautiful peaceful places

When you get off the train, get on the bus. you are coming to the port. From there you take the ferry.. (This one also costs around 400 baht.)

Buy all of these tickets on SITE. Especially before the party period there is no space left. If you buy it early, you can travel on the train like a yacht.

The site is in English, but it is an incredibly helpful and comprehensive site.. They are the number 1 address for me when it comes to transportation in Thailand.. You can find all transportation alternatives under one roof.

By the way, I will have a video below.. If you watch that video, you can see every single detail of my train journey.

There was no room for the bed on the way out, but we were able to find a place on the way back.. I said it. Before the party, all means of transportation are busy.

However, you can also reach the island by bus.. Its price is also close to the train.

You can also check it on THIS SITE. Prices vary a lot depending on the period you are going to, but the cost of the train was more or less the same.

Intra-Island Transportation in Koh Phangan

Rent a direct motorbike. Around 100-150 baht per day. They don’t want a driver’s license but a passport is required. By the way, 1 liter of gasoline is around 30 baht.

If you don’t know how to drive, there are minibuses like pickup trucks.. They take 50 baht to most places, but nothing can give you the pleasure of traveling by motor.

You can freely visit dozens of villages and towns; and you can easily reach the beach you want.

3. What to Eat & Restaurants on Koh Phangan

There are places to eat for $100; for 3 dollars. Let me state this up front. Because as there are many luxury hotels on the island; There are also evening markets where the people hang out.

So you can find whatever you want according to your budget.. But anyway, let me give you Koh Phangan restaurant recommendations based on my own experience :

Phantip Night Market

Night markets Thailand’ is also very famous. Food stalls are set up everywhere. Here is one of the most famous night markets in Koh Phangan, Phantip Night Market.

It is located close to Thong Sala Port.. I can already say that this is the heart of the island.. In the evening, when the sun is about to rest, benches are set up.. Whether it is from the stalls, all kinds of fish and meat; If you want, you can choose the dishes you want from the restaurants.

As for the prices;

  • If you want to buy fish by the kilo at the night market, it’s 200 Baht; If you want to buy shrimp or squid, 600 Baht per kilo

By the way, beer in the market is around 50 Baht, coke is 30 Baht, cigarettes are around 120 Baht.. There are 7/11 or FamilMart all over the island. These markets are open day and night, but they do not sell alcohol after 12 pm.

Koh Phangan One of the Best Markets for Food and Drink: Phantip Night Pazar Pazari

Baraka Restaurant (For Breakfast)

This is a legendary restaurant for breakfast. Middle Eastern cuisine dominates. They have a dish called Shakshuka, like menemen.

They even have a bread called pita, which is similar to flatbread you know.. So if you come here, you will never go hungry.

  • Prices : Greek Salad 190 Baht, Egg Set 190 Baht, Shakshuka 160 Baht, Pita Bread 50 Baht

Amsterdam Cafe Bar

One of the best places to watch the sunset. The place is built on the west side of the mountainside.

Amsterdam Bar : An evening view and one of the most beautiful bars in Koh Phangan

Amsterdam Bar :

This is why everyone flocks here at sunset to have a drink and enjoy the view.. I liked this place too, but the cocktails were not very good.

  • The prices are 200 Baht.

Top Rock Bar

This one is right next to Amsterdam Bar.. Almost exactly the same in terms of space and concept.

  • Cocktail prices are also 200-250 Baht.

Fisherman’s Restaurant

This is my favorite restaurant on the island.. Prices were also very reasonable.. Especially Tom Yum soup is legendary. Don’t forget to say it with little pain. Because normal is incredibly painful. inedible. That’s all.

Tom Yum Soup at Fisherman’s Restaurant, one of the best restaurants in Koh Phangan

However, White The grilled snapper fish is also legendary and delicious. i love it here. I highly recommend it.

  • Prices are from 100 grams of fish 80 baht, Tom Yum soup from 180 Baht, squid from 250 Baht, Mixed fish plate from 590 Baht, Crab 400 Baht, Shrimp 100 grams from 150 baht. Drinks Chang Beer 90 Baht, cocktails 170 Baht, 1 bottle of wine around 1,000 Baht.

Dancing Elephant Hostel’s Restaurant

Here it’s actually a hostel, but the restaurant and the environment of the beach are great.. Food and cocktails are very delicious.

Also, the beach is a complete pleasure.. You can also stay in a hostel if you wish.. You can view it at here. By the way, the sea was not very nice.. I wouldn’t recommend it for swimming, but you should definitely stop by to enjoy the view.

  • Prices :  Cocktails are 150 Baht, but there is a happy hour between 5-7. Buy 1 get 1 free.

Beachlounge

Decent place with both western and Thai cuisine, but prices are a bit high. Generally, couples prefer it.

We stopped by for a while, but when we saw the prices, we gave up.. Even the pastas were around 200 Baht.

  • Prices: Tom yum soup is between 150-400 Baht, depending on the ingredients.. For example, 320 Baht with fish. Cocktails around 200 Baht, desserts around 180 Baht.

One of my Koh Phangan Restaurants recommendations: Bluerama

Bluerama

The hottest place on the island. It is also built on the western slopes, has an infinity pool, and where mostly wealthy couples cannot find a place in the hotel, it also has a restaurant service.

HERE.. If you can find a place and your budget is sufficient, I recommend it for accommodation.

  • Prices: Cocktails in the restaurant are 220 Baht, meals are around 300-400 baht.. If you spend 600 baht per person, you can enter the pool.. Otherwise they don’t allow. They have such a policy.

Kupu Kupu

This hotel is a legend. The hotel itself is a dream, both in terms of its restaurant, bar and accommodation.

One of the Most Beautiful Hotels on Koh Phangan Island

You realize that you are completely in Asia. We stopped by the hotel for a drink, but believe me, we were amazed.. Already click on the KUPU KUPU link and review. You will understand what we mean. Especially couples, take note of this hotel.

  • Prices : There is a happy hour between 5-6 in the evening.. 250 baht cocktails and buy 1 get another free. The hotel is fabulous. Pleasure in the pool is also different. Let me also praise the view on the beach for the sunset, and I will definitely convince you to stop by this hotel.

Infinity Beach Club Hostel

Koh There is a very interesting situation in Phangan.. Hostels are also of incredible quality and almost all of them are by the sea.

Therefore, most of them also have nice restaurants.. One of them was this place.. Again, the view of the beach and the sunset was wonderful.

This is the beach of Infinity Beach Club Hostel

Likewise the meals. It also has a wonderful pool surrounded by coconut trees.. What more! Browse HERE. You will like it already.

  • Prices : Cocktail 220 Baht. There is a happy hour between 6-9pm and 1 cocktail is 150 Baht.. The sushis were also very good and their prices were around 200 Baht.. Let the successful place be on your list in terms of food and drink.

Other Restaurants I Have Never Been To :

I have noted so many places on the island that I don’t have time for many of them. I couldn’t find the right. But keep it on your list. You can see their names below:

  • The Mason’a Arms : It was one of the best restaurants on the island.
  • Capana: Vegan restaurant
  • Crave : Famous for its burgers
  • Valentino : Located in the northeast, couples’ favorite place.
  • You can have coffee at The port Cafe : 50-80 baht
  • Wasabi sushi restaurant is also good for sushi, but I I couldn’t go.

4. Koh Phangan Island Places to Visit, Beaches and Beaches

Koh Phangan Island stands out with its beaches as places to visit. So many temples, historical buildings etc.. not here. If there is no sea-sand-sun, that is the beach.

If you were to visit the whole island with a motorbike you rented, you would travel in 6-7 hours.. But if you want to scrutinize the hidden places as I did, spare at least 2-3 days.. Especially at most beaches in the western parts, the sea is not very nice for swimming.

4.1 Most Important Beaches and Beaches

You will be able to roughly see the map locations of the important beaches I will explain below.. You can plan these Koh Phangan beaches based on their location.. I will mention 1-2 places to visit:

Koh Phangan Island Beaches and Beaches map locations

Already I, too, have visited these beaches and routes more or less 3 or 5 times.

  • Zen Beach
  • Mae Haad Beach
  • Malibu Beach
  • Haad Than Sadet beach
  • Haad Yuan Beach
  • Haad Rin Beach
  • Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach

Places To Visit

  • Wat Paa Sang Tham Temple
  • Phaeng Waterfall

4.2 Zen Beach

4.2 Zen Beach strong>

When we came to the island, we woke up at the hotel in the morning and decided to go to the northeast with the motorbike we rented.

There are dozens of restaurants and beaches in this region.. One of the most touristic areas of the island. Especially at sunset, everyone rushes to this area because the view is indescribable.

Zen Beach is one of the most famous beaches in this region.. There are also beaches like Haad Chao Phao, Haad Salad and Haad Yao just ahead.. But I didn’t like the sea here very much.. Generally, west-facing beaches have shallow seas.. But the views are magnificent.

4.3 Mae Haad Beach

So we jumped on the motorbike and took the road to Mae Haad Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches for swimming.

First we enjoyed the view from the 360 bar on the hill. Actually, it was necessary to come here in the evening.. If you have the opportunity, be sure to stop by at sunset.

Mae Haad Beach : Koh Phangan

Mae Haad Beach very nice beach for swimming. There are also hotels and restaurants in the coastal part.. It’s a dream place under the shade of kokonat trees.

But what makes this place special is; to go to the opposite island (Ko Ma) by crossing the road formed by the tide and accumulating on the sea.

This road is more prominent especially in the evening.. It is a little deeper during the day, but walking this road and having fun like children is another taste.. You can also see information about the island in my video below.

Don’t forget to subscribe to my Youtube channel.. I constantly share such places on my channel and create beautiful routes.

4.4 Malibu Beach

After leaving Mae Haad Beach, I went to the famous Malibu Beach, all white. We say let’s reach the sand like flour.

We are now in the eastern part of the island.. I’ll admit, this area is much more beautiful and quiet.

Must relax under the coconut trees rather than swim; swing on swings. We should chat with the people in the surrounding villages.

After walking around such beautiful beaches on the first day, we say let’s go back to the hotel.. Of course, it is not possible to return without stopping by somewhere on the way.

Koh Phangan Beaches : We passed villages like this while traveling

4.5 Wat Paa Sang Tham Temple

The most common religion in Thailand is Buddhism. You can see one temple in almost every island, city, village.. Buddha statues and tranquility prevail in its gardens.

After stopping by Wap Paa Sang Tham temple, which is the most important temple to see in Koh Phangan, you now return to the hotel through indescribable beautiful roads and return to the hotel the next day. We say let’s get ready for the day.

4.6 Phaeng Waterfall

Koh Phangan a completely lush island. Trees are everywhere your eyes can see.. In this geography, where nature is surrounded by all hands, there are plenty of waterfalls.

Today, we say let’s go to Phaeng Waterfall, one of the most famous.. We blindly follow the greenery and take the road to the waterfall.

We pay 20 baht and park the motors.. Admission is free but they do register. Because you have to climb for hours and it is quite difficult to get to the top.. They are recording this for safety because there have been people injured on this route before.

The Waterfall on Koh Phangan, encountered after climbing Phaeng Waterfall landscape

Waterfall actually consists of 8-10 different parts. It takes 1 hour in total to go even to the middle part, and it rains constantly and the weather turns on and off.

But in total, you can enjoy traveling on a very nice route of 4-5 hours; After reaching the top, we admire the view of the island.. Nature lovers should definitely see this place, too.

4.7 Haad Than Sadet Beach

After touring the waterfall, we hop on a motorbike and cross the legendary villages and roads.. This route has become one of my favorite routes to travel by motor.

There are villages everywhere and it is incredibly cold on the hill.. Burning below; In half an hour, the weather drops 10-15 degrees.

Haad Than Sadet Beach is such a cute place. : Full Moon party guide

So make sure you have long-sleeved clothes with you. I never expected. We officially freeze during the trip, but the views are worth it.

Had Than Sadet beach is located on the east of the island.. Not so touristy. But the houses on the hillside and the beach are so beautiful that we admire it here.. This is definitely a place to explore for the day.. It should definitely be on your list.

4.8 Elephant Farm

While returning from Haad Than Sadet, we see an elephant farm in the villages. We pay 100 baht and feed the elephants with our hands. They also do elephant tours, but we don’t ride elephants.. I suggest you don’t either.. Pity the animals.

Elephant Farm on Koh Phangan

Elephant Farm and the village here are a must see from places. Many nature activities are also carried out in this region.. From zipline to trekking trips, you have everything you need.. If you want to spend time in nature, I would definitely say join the activities here.

4.9 Haad Rin Beach

As you may have noticed, Haad Yuan Beach and Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach are among the beaches. i didn’t mention. We couldn’t go because it was raining.

So if you have time, stop by there as well.. These beaches are also very close to Haad Than Sadet Beach.

Haad Rin is the place where the famous Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan is held.. Up a long beach. the sea is not very nice. The sea is not the point of this place anyway.

The famous Full Moon Party. So it’s a must see beach to come, walk and wander. There is no other event.. Besides, this area is not crowded at all, except on the party day.

Now I will tell you my experiences both about the Koh Phangan nightlife and about the Full Moon Party. I want to tell you.

5. Koh Phangan Full Moon Party and Nightclubs

Koh Phangan Island actually means the famous Full Moon Party. I’m talking about a party that is heard all over the world, where thousands of people have fun on the Haad Rin beach until the morning, and they are ecstatic with fire shows, different styles of music and more.

Let me state from the beginning: My mouth. not left open. Didn’t adore the party. It’s not a case of praising me.

But still, I’ll tell you what to expect if you go.. First of all, I’ll mention how Koh Phangan nightlife on non-party days.

Koh Phangan Full Moon Party Thailand : Full Moon Party Thailand Haad Rin

Before and even after the party, most nights on the island there is what they call a Jungle Party in the forests.. Every night they throw a party in a different place.. But admission to these parties is quite expensive.. It’s usually around 500 Baht, and that’s just the entrance fee

While you’re traveling around the island, you can see that day’s party on the billboards on every corner.. For example, I went to 2 different parties for 2 nights.

We attended a beach party called Oxa Club on the first evening.. Entry 500 baht. It didn’t have much of an event.

There were Jungle and Waterfall parties on other days. For example, entrance to the Jungle party is 800 baht, drinks start from 100 baht. They also sell drinks in buckets at these parties.. The price is 350 Baht.

Jungle Party Like This. In the middle of the forest, it continues until the morning sunrise.

There are usually dance shows accompanied by fire dances and techno music.. The Jungle Party is always there, but the party one day before the Full Moon was quite nice.

I liked it more than the Full Moon Party.. All of these parties continue until the morning.

Let’s go to the Full Moon Party.. This party is happening at Haad Rin Beach. You pay a fee of 100 Baht at the entrance.. It’s just the entrance fee

In front of different restaurants on the beach, different music plays. There are all kinds of music. Everyone having fun on the beach. I would like to list a few suggestions and warnings to those going to the party:

  • The prices of drinks are expensive at the stands.. So buy it from the markets on the beach.. More convenient.
  • Do not walk barefoot. Too many drunk teenagers can break bottles and land on your feet very badly. I saw a few people. That’s why I warn you.
  • If you are not staying close to the beach area, use the minibuses to come to the party area.. While spinning, if you have had a drink, never turn with the engine. Just in case.

Full Moon Party on Haad Rin Beach in Koh Phangan

    <

  • Don’t come to the party early. It starts literally around 12 at night.
  • There may be those who want to sell you dangerous goods.. The use of these substances is prohibited in Thailand.. There is even a prison sentence. Stay away.
  • Always have your bag. It can be theft. Make sure to keep your important belongings in a locked place at the hotel.. Even in hotels, theft can happen.. Since they knew everyone was going to the party, thieves could flock to the hotels.
  • Don’t expect too much from the party.. No amazing light or dance show. Music is playing. You’re playing on the beach. There are also lots of fire shows.. People are jumping over the ropes. That’s all.
  • Drinks in buckets in the party area start from 250 Baht. Whiskeys 500 Baht. Beer is 60 Baht in shops on the beach.
  • Free to sell drinks up to 12 on 7/11. Then only cocktails are free Smirnoff’s and stuff. These are mostly low alcohol drinks
  • By the way, almost everyone gets their body painted. Glitter paints shine in the night. quite popular. Prices vary depending on size.. The smallest is 100 Baht. Adults are around 500 Baht.
  • You won’t go hungry in this area.. Let’s say you are hungry, they sell doner kebabs everywhere.. Most restaurants are also open until morning.

I mean, it’s not a party that could be among the best parties in the world. Koh Phangan Full Moon Party. I think it was a middle class party. It’s already held every month.

There are lots of parties even before and after.. When the full moon comes, this is the party celebrated for that day.. Celebrating the whole event on the day of the full moon.

Before coming to the island, there is a site called Phanganist. You can also see the current parties from there.

I will also have suggestions for accommodation in Koh Phangan.. Now that I have told them, none of your questions about Koh Phangan trip will be left unanswered.

6. Koh Phangan Hotels and Accommodation Guide

I assume you have already reviewed the hotels I mentioned in the restaurant recommendations section above. But in summary, those hotels were:

  • Kupu Kupu
  • Dancing Elephant

You can click on the names of the hotels and examine them.. They have become my favourites.

However, you can stay at the Golden Hill Resort hotel where I am staying for 28 dollars per night for 2 people.. The hotel was actually in the “Well Here” rating. But if you want to check it out, click.

This was the hotel we stayed at in Koh Phangan : Full moon party guide

Stay close to Haad Rin if you want it close to the party. There are places to stay for about 8 dollars a night.. You can view it by clicking the HAAD RIN link. I have listed them all there.

If you want to be in the middle of the island and close to the central places, stay around Thong Sala.

From here you will be close to both the beaches and many restaurants and pubs.. Also, the sunset is amazing.

However, you will be close to the Jungle parties I mentioned above.. I listed the sequential version. To view: Click.

If you’re looking for romance, what more hotels are out there. But it’s all a matter of budget. Since the island is small, you can explore them all according to your budget.. I also listed them HERE. You can see all of them one by one.

8. How Much Does a Trip to Koh Phangan Cost ?

I spent around $40 a day to visit Koh Phangan Island. I say dollars, because I guess that there might be a change in Thai Baht during your visit, it would be more accurate to go in dollars.

Of course, this 40 dollars is actually the budget of backpackers.. If you are going on a honeymoon or a luxury vacation, you will probably spend much more than this figure.. By the way, about the honeymoon plan: You can see legendary alternatives from my Honeymoon Places article.

Koh Phangan travel guide and suggestions : Full moon party guide

I explained everything above, from restaurants on the island to transportation and even beverage prices.. You will spend three or five more or less in that area.

The biggest expense will be the hotel.. I already listed it for you.. Be sure to check out the most beautiful hotels in Koh Phangan from the Ko Phangan Hotels link. There are great places. You can even see places to stay for 10 dollars per night for 2 people.

Finally, make sure to use this 12goasia site, especially in Thailand.. It will be the cure for your problems in transportation.

If you plan by taking these suggestions into account, you can make a very convenient and easy Koh Phangan trip.

Bonus : Places I Couldn’t Go But I Recommend to You

<

Now, let me tell you about what I can’t do but what you can do if you have time.

  • We couldn’t go to some of the beaches I mentioned above in Koh Phangan beaches. I say stop by them too.
  • There is a place called Mu Koh Angthog National Marin. Take a tour from Koh Phangan. Daily tour 1,800 baht. Located in the Ko Phaluai Islands. We didn’t go because it was expensive.. you examine. It was a place with very beautiful archipelagos.
  • Koh Samui is beautiful if you are coming for your honeymoon.. Not everyone can finish praising. Take a look, plan. I also listed the hotels HERE. Actually, I postponed it so that I would go when I became a couple.. you take a look. There are bad places. By the way, don’t think it’s expensive. There are places to stay even for 5-10 dollars per person.
  • There was a facility called Secret Mountain. How I did this place, I missed it. Have a nice lunch. It has a legendary view. Prices were also moderate.

The birthplace of Barbaros

As Captain-i Derya, the first captain of the Ottoman Empire Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha, who was the pasha and the great admiral, was born in Plomari in 1473.. Although there is no trace of Barbaros in Plomari, this name is very important for the history of the seafaring town.

Within the Greek islands, 19. Turning into one of the most important centers of industry, commerce, production and maritime trade in the mid-century, Plomari is also the place where the Greek national drink ouzo was first produced.. Today, just like raki, the quality of ouzo is measured by the water used.. Since Plomari has the best quality drinking water sources in the geography of Greece, the aroma it adds to ouzo is noticed everywhere.. There is no production today, except for a few ouzo workshops.. Plomari, with its beaches and cultural tourism, is a region where European, American and Turkish tourists spend more time in high season.. Since it is not very well known, the region, which is not crowded and uncomplicated, is ideal for those who want to relax and have a peaceful holiday. Ouzo, which he throws, is consumed in a similar way in coffee houses today.. Drinks thrown together while playing backgammon or chatting with friends accompany the pleasant conversation.. Unlike Turkey, the coffeehouse culture in Greece also includes the offering of liquor.

ouzos produced in Plomari

Because of the ouzo production, it is between Lesbos and Plomari. there is serious competition. What makes the cute town one step ahead of this competition is the quality water source and the qualified anise grown in the region with aromatic plants.. It is possible to count Pitsiladi, Yannaçi, Varvayani and Plomari/Isidoro Arvaniti among the ouzos that have become brands in the town.

Things to do in Plomari

The so-called ‘old town’ in the center of the town, which is one of the oldest settlements on the island, is where you can witness typical Greek architecture.. Two-story, bay window, mostly wooden houses line the narrow streets.. It is essential to enjoy walking among the historical houses on quiet and calm streets without traffic noise and to breathe the atmosphere of the town.

There are many shops, shops and coffee houses around the big plane tree in the city square.. After wandering the streets, it is quite enjoyable to relax, have a drink and chat with the local people.

The beaches, each carrying the blue flag, which are chirpy in the summer season, are an unforgettable experience for those who love sea, sand and sun holidays.. Agios Isidoros Beach is shown among the few beaches not only in the region but also in Greece.

Oceanis Cafe

Make sure to try frappe, one of the cold drinks consumed by the Greeks.. Iced coffee, which is prepared by adding milk and sugar according to preference, is available in cafes and coffee houses in every corner of the town.. One of my suggestions is the Oceanis Cafe, where we sit to drink frappe with its stylish design.. Souffle is around 3€, waffle is around 4€, frappe is around 2€, Turkish (Greek) coffee is around 1.5€.. When you sit in all restaurants and cafes, a large glass of water is offered free of charge.. Get immersed in life by sitting in the cafes that stretch towards the beach and the port.

There are 3 different museums in the town that appeal to enthusiasts. Varvayianni Ouzo Museum, Lomari Isidoros Arvanitis Ouzo Museum and Soap Museum are must-sees to see the most important production tools for this town.. The hospitality and warm welcome at the museums make people happy.

Where to stay in Plomari

There are nearly 25 accommodation options in the charming town.. Among these places that can be preferred according to the budget and accommodation concept, there is also a hostel, a luxury studio.. So before you go, decide exactly what kind of place you want to stay.. I stayed at Frini Studios on my trip to Plomari. There is a special 10 percent discount for Keşfetsek at the property that got full marks from me for its hospitality and approach.. Check out my Frini Studios post for discount details and a closer look at the facility.

The Mytilene-Plomari Road

How to get to Plomari

<

Plomari is 42 km from the center of the island of Lesvos.. Due to the nature of the road, this journey takes approximately 50 minutes by private vehicle.. In order to go to this town from Turkey, it is necessary to take a ferry from Ayvalık to Lesbos.. After the ferry ride that takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, the port of Lesbos is reached.. There is a municipal bus service between Mytilene and Plomari that runs 3-4 times a day.. However, without the hassle of the city bus, choose a pleasant journey by renting a car and being included in the nature view.

Plomari with its unspoiled nature, friendly people, historical structures, magnificent beaches, ouzo, olive oil and soap >, one of the most beautiful corners of Lesbos. Those planning a trip to Mytilene should spend a few days in this beautiful town.

Nepal Arrival

Published

on

By

After our tiring and intense trip to India, we got out of the chaos and arrived in Nepal, where we said “oh there is a world”. We had a comfortable journey to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, with a 55-minute flight from Varanasi.. Nepal is 3 hours 20 minutes ahead of Turkey and 15 minutes ahead of India.

From Victoria Subirano’s book named A teacher in Kathmandu so that you can get an idea before you come to Nepal. you can watch the movie “A Mirror in the Sky” which he freely inspired. It is the film that reveals how the education system in Nepal works, poverty and mysticism.

Kathmandu is located in the valley at the confluence of the Vishnumati and Bagmati rivers.. There are dozens of temples hidden between its streets.. While it is difficult to breathe from the exhaust fumes in its narrow streets, it is certain that you will discover many things in the company of colorful shops, peddlers, bookshops and local people.

A blend of 2 religions, It is very possible to see that Buddhism and Hinduism coexist in the country where it is intertwined, and this unity is reflected even in objects and temples.. Whether Buddhist or Hindu, everyone can easily perform their daily rituals according to their religious beliefs.. There are enough temples in the city. Someone who goes to work or wanders around the streets completes his prayer by ringing the bell in the tiny temple on the street and applying the red paint inside the temple to his forehead.. A person who has prayed has red paint on his forehead. When you see this, know that that person has prayed. Let’s not forget that the main element of flower worship. During the worship we witnessed in temples, they offer flowers to their gods and light candles.

We were surprised that the fruits we ate did not taste salty, although agriculture is the livelihood of the country.. Especially when we say that the banana is disgusting that we have not eaten in our life, we say it’s like straw, we ate a banana that tasted just like that.. We got our Nepal visa quickly and very easily at the airport for 25 USD (15 days). They came to meet us because our hotel had a pick-up service.. We arrived at our hotel without the need to take a taxi.

We wrote the details and places we visited in separate sections to be more descriptive.

But first, let’s list the must-haves and some information you need to know for those who are considering coming to Nepal:

Take a mask. Too much air pollution in the city. If you don’t want to walk in dust and smoke, take your mask.
Bring walking shoes. The roads are very bad and dusty.. If you don’t want your nails to get dirty, wear sneakers.
Those who come to Nepal by plane should get a free map from the airport.. The map you will get from the hotels is not very descriptive and guiding.
Visit the bookstores in the Thamel area. There is a wide variety of books, magazines and many products for anyone interested in books, not just travelers.
Buy LP-Nepal. If not, you can find it in Thamel.. But those who do not want to buy definitely need a guide in the temple areas.. But for me, the temples and the figures carved on the temple do not mean anything, if you only want to take pictures of them, you do not even need a guide.. They charge up to 100 rs from tourists, don’t give more than 25 rs. For your information! Locals don’t like discounts in Kathmandu.
. If you are going to shop, know that they sell you exponentially more expensive.
Although not everywhere, 25% tax is charged in many restaurants and cafes.
Have dinner at Northfield Restaurant in the Thamel area.. There will be a pleasant dinner next to a cozy wood fire accompanied by Nepali music.

Entrance fee to all Durbar squares.
Kathmandu Durbar Square : 750 rs.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square : 1100 rs.
Patan Durbar Square : 500 rs.

Eat jujudhav yogurt in Bhaktapur. We should have paid 25 rs for 3 yogurts, but because we are tourists we paid 150 rs

Eat Daal Bhaat. It’s like Indian Thali.

Eat Momo. A dish resembling a tibetan dumpling. Vegetable, buffalo meat, chicken options are available. A little spicy and bitter.

During the time we were in Kathmandu, we made kora in Buddhist temples, translated mantras and sent our wishes to the universe in the fastest way, we worshiped according to God in Hindu temples :), We photographed the most beautiful examples of Newari architecture, followed closely the funerals of the cremated dead in accordance with Hinduism, practiced their rituals, respectively, Svayambhu Mahachaitya (Monkey Temple) temple, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Bhaktapur, Changu Narayan Temple, Kathmandu and Patan Durbar Squares. Gdansk Travel Notes: Better Than Poland!

Published

By

There are some places that I came across somewhere and noted down and I couldn’t wait to go… Here is such a special route for me in Gdansk

I have been on my master’s degree for almost a year. Since I live in Brescia, Italy, I plan to visit various cities in Europe in combination.. I chose Gdansk first and said I’d go to Norway from here, to Alesund…

Gdansk Overview / Famous “Pencil Houses” of the City

My Plane Could Not Land in Gdansk

Here come the time, I went to Alesund and even got on the plane to Gdansk on the way back!

Oh what a plane ride…

While getting on I knew there was 55 km/h wind in Gdansk but I guessed it would be okay. But we couldn’t land on our first try, it passed, the plane was rocking like a cradle!

I Shared Those Moments We Couldn’t Land in Gdansk on Instagram @gorkemliyollarcom

An airstrip I was on for the first time in my life he had to pass, luckily the pilot managed to land in Gdansk on our second attempt…

It wasn’t a very good start, but I’m welcome Poland

Trying to go to Gdansk Glowny <

Finally Gdansk!

If the plane landed so hard, you should also think below, it’s as if I don’t come from the Norwegian fjords but went there, it’s so cold, wind, rain all together…

Since I got off at 10 pm anyway, I’m in trouble to go to my hostel and sleep You can actually reach the center directly from Gdansk Walesa airport by bus. But the buses after 11 o’clock leave at a different station called Wrzeszcz, and from there you reach the central Gdansk Glowny train station by commuter train.

That’s exactly how I got to the city and my hostel, but thanks to the Polish, who helped me while I was waiting for the bus. Thanks to a college couple…

Hello Gdansk / My First View in the City / Going to a Hostel

About Gdansk

Good morning from Gdanks!

This is Poland’ A city located on the Baltic Sea in the north of. Actually I visited all the Baltic countries and I loved it very much, but they said to Gdansk that this is Poland, you are not exactly Baltic

I mean this is Poland but Gdansk I think It’s even more beautiful than Poland…

Morning Hours / Walking By Motlawa

I’ve visited the capital Warsaw before, but now Gdansk is getting me pretty excited, let’s see what we’ll see…

Since my hostel is located at the northern end of the city, I also start walking from the riverside towards the center.

Yes, Gdansk is a typical Baltic city… I say that this city also has islands, rivers and plenty of water

strong>

Too Much Wind, But Not Without a Selfie

The Spirit of Gdansk: Motlawa River

Our River is Motlawa!

If I follow the Motlawa river, Gdansk’ It means I can almost completely tour the city. Because the city consists of this city and the small islands it surrounds.

First of all, when I come across a beautiful Gdansk text, she says OK. um I’m in the right place…

I Love Those City Names You Must See Me To Understand The Wind…

The Famous Cute Pencil Houses of Gdansk

The first thing I want to tell you in Gdansk is actually Houses that make up the unique architecture of this city.

In fact, although you can see similar ones in other cities of Germany and Poland in general, the ones here are more characteristic.. Thin and long, crooked, colorful houses like pencils!

Famous Pencil Houses of Gdansk / I Found This Name If I Found It In The Sun From The Tip, A Selfie Immediately…

And to the bottom aren’t they built?

Sweetly narrowing the top floors…

I admit that I saw the aerial view of these house-filled streets and fell in love with Gdansk and I thought I should see it. . Yes, maybe I won’t be able to see it from the air, but I’ll still see it.

“The top floors, which narrow down sweetly…”

There Could Be A Modern Building Without Destroying The City!

But here it is one thing to visit and see another photo of it.. The photos did not have modern siblings of these typical Gdansk houses either!

Yes, as a civil engineer, I noticed the modern buildings in Gdansk from the very first minute. Because the modern structures here are “we are modern” They don’t smirk They went and built with a nice modern interpretation of architecture similar to their old brothers.

I can’t say I’m not impressed with this work, Gdansk can still be visited after 50 years…

Modern Gdansk Houses I Like Very Much, There Are Some More Futuristic As Well… These Also Provided a Nice Transition / Modern-Old

Is Crane One Of The Attractions In Gdansk?

Now by the riverside While walking on the promenade called “Deptak Nadwodny”, I see one of the first things that come to mind when I think of places to visit in Gdansk.

What is that Crane?

Interesting place in Gdansk Crane The River And The Crane Look Better Here

Yes “Crane” is one of the interesting structures in Gdansk. This used to be a crane building used to load ships. If I said old, of course.. century is quite old The original state is destroyed, but the current one is worth seeing.

There is the Black Pearl of the pirates of the caribbean a little further ahead, there are nice photos, try it here…

Black Pearl is also here <

Like the Harry Potter Scene: Mariacka Street!

I’m diving down the river into Mariacka Street now

Mariacka at first sight became my favorite place in this city!

I feel like I’m on the street where I’m going to choose a wand for Hogwarts. “Hagrid, where do we get the wand?”

Can it be without a photo Mariacka Street

In Gdansk, you can feel an interestingly slightly British air; mysterious buildings painted in a depressing style, staircases in front of houses small courtyards and magnificent artistic details…

These small courtyard houses on Mariacka Street are boutique shops! Local products, gifts or jewellery, whatever you are looking for. All meticulously furnished with excellent details, this place can be studied for a few hours.

Magnets Here from the Map Detailed Shops in Mariacka Are So Sweet

Across the river side of the street, the huge St.. Mary’s Church…

Undoubtedly, it is one of the most magnificent buildings in the city, you can go inside and have a look at it.. Mary’s Church Is Also Visible

The Rain Follows Me

Just at that moment I’m being caught in the rain!

If it rains, I have a solution; raincoat and my umbrella…

Now it’s time where the heart of Gdansk beats; Long Sunday!

Long Sunday With Shaking Rain

Long Sunday

Long Sunday ie Długi Targ is a classic Polish style market-square. I don’t know why these guys built such thin and long squares, but it happened

As the name suggests, this is a long market area. If I said market, it means small peddlers and generally the shops lined up along the square, better if I say square…

Long Market / Długi Targ

You can see the most beautiful of the typical cute pencil houses of Gdansk that I mentioned in the Long Market.. The ones here are a little more historical and have wonderful decorations.

Also, I think the most eye-catching structure of the square is Gdansk Town Hall.

Gdansk Town Hall with its golden inlaid tower and legendary beauty. The clock may be the most magnificent structure in this city!

The Long Market and the Magnificent Gdansk Town Hall

Gdansk, the City of Gates

My market is at one end of the street, the Golden Gate is at the riverside end there is also the Green Door…

I forgot to mention; Gdansk is the city of gates

You can often see these gates in the old city centre.. It is generally built like 2-3 storey private buildings and has arch-shaped openings from the inside and you enter and exit the square and the street from there.. Especially the Golden Gate is another beautiful one, don’t miss it…

I’ll be visiting soon The Golden Gate / The surprise is gone! The Sun Is Clearly Opening The Gates of Gdansk: This Green Gate by the River

Is it a Rainbow?

And these gates are rain shields for me! Because I’m stuck at the door leading to the river from Long Market, it’s raining heavily

But a few minutes later, “the sun?”

If there’s rain and sun, let the rainbow come !

My Rain Shield Behind the Green Door I Watch Gdansk with Rain and Sun; Delicious!

Things suddenly turn upside down in Gdansk, it’s sunny now

The weather in the city has really changed with the sun and rainbow. Those depressing houses have turned into bright spring colors, now It’s time to wander the streets and take photos a lot.

The Rainbow Has Arrived Can I Pass Such An Unforgettable Moment Without A Photograph? This Is The Back Side

Gdansk’s Islands

I set foot on one of Gdansk’s islands from the Green Bridge in front of the Green Gate. I say island, but it is a part of the city I say so only because rivers run on both sides.

This is also a very touristic area, but it is under construction for now, that catches my attention the most. lots of mobile sweet sellers I see around. Poland’s sugary pastry desserts are in vain, definitely try it!

Here’s the Island for You Just Kidding The River Divides A Wonderful Street I Discovered, Find It “Poland’s Candy Sweets pastry desserts of all kinds”

“The cafes of this city are very nice”

I want to have a snack and rest now. Şso that I can have a little view so that I can both fill my stomach and watch the city

Eat a great boutique pancake shop called “Pan Kejk” on the Long Market I came. There is everything to eat and drink here, and you won’t believe the prices. I got a great sandwich, salad and unlimited coffee for only 15-20 zloty.

I Need to Have a Rest and Eat Something / “Pakejk” Gdansk

Time to enjoy sunny Gdansk. I pass the Golden Gate at the upper end of the Long Market and open to the modern part of the city.

There is a triumphal arch-like gate and another historical building behind the Golden Gate.. You have now reached the wide streets of Gdansk here.

Gdansk Became Another Beautiful When The Sun Comes Out The Golden Gate I Just Mentioned Gdansk Houses Also Shine Differently!

A Little Out of the City, The Environment Is Different

There is a huge modern shopping mall right across the street. It is also possible to see socialist-style buildings when you go to a little bit further in the city. Gdansk dates back to different historical periods. It is a city that has witnessed it too.

I am now finishing my sightseeing in Gdansk.. You might think that this city is an atmospheric place anyway, and all its streets and avenues are special in general, so I say go everywhere

The Other Side of the Golden Gate and the Starting Point of the Modern City, The Shopping Center Just Opposite the Long Market , Trams and Wide Streets A Little Beyond the Shrin You Can See These Types of Buildings Now Some Gdansk Travel Tips!
