My notes for places to visit in Athens: Let me be frank. This city didn’t affect me that much.. Because in terms of history I was expecting more builds. Monastiraki

It’s hot. just like our place. like Fethiye. It makes people suffocating. We feel it as soon as we leave the hotel.

First, the heart of the city we are going to this square. Whatever Taksim or Sultanahmet is to us, this is in Athens.. By the way, there is a flea market here on Sundays.. FYI.

Ancient Agora of Athens

We are going to this very beautiful historical area, which is just within walking distance.. Although it is possible to see historical ruins all over the city.. We do not forget to buy a combined ticket, which will be valid in many museums.. Attention !!! Instead of buying individual tickets, we’re also eliminating the combined ticket business, since we’ll be going everywhere anyway.

In this region, which is known as the commercial, social and political center of Athens, different buildings such as museums, temples and warehouses have been preserved very well.

The Plate

After lingering in the Ancient Agora of Athens for 1-2 hours, We continue on our way, getting lost in the streets paved with stone streets of Plaka district, which is within walking distance to take a breather and eat something.. On the left and right of the streets, kiosks, restaurants and boutiques attract my attention.

We say let’s wander around this area today and go up to the famous Acropolis in the evening.. Before going to the Acropolis, it is not possible to stop by this world-famous museum.. Sculptures, friezes and historical artifacts are exhibited in the museum.. Many historical artifacts, even in the Acropolis, are exhibited here for protection purposes.

So instead of looking around, sometimes you can look where you step and see the historical city under the glass covered floor.. Now, it’s time to slowly see the most beautiful one on our itinerary.. We start climbing the temple, which is located at an altitude of 152 meters in the very center of the city.. Let’s not forget that we are leaving the Anafiotika region while leaving here.. If you follow the signs of the Acropolis from the Acropolis Museum, you will pass through this area.. There are walls, castles, theaters and ruins in the region.. According to all, we reach the peak point. Along the way, people start to question things.. The ancient name of the Acropolis, meaning “the city above” from the Greek language. That’s why this place was built in the upper part of the city.

There are many historical buildings around, big and small.. You know, there is a big building that you can see in those photos, even from anywhere in the city! Actually, that building is not the Acropolis.. The Acropolis is the name of this area.

We left the museum. We entered the historical area just across the road.. Our first stop on our right is this theater.. A museum dedicated to the God of Dionysus. We said there are many gods.

Continue on the road. Our next stop is the theatre. It will most likely get your attention.. Look, this theater is beautiful. It was built by Herodes Atticus, one of the wealthy of the time, in 161 BC.

Propylaea

Continue climbing the Acropolis.. The weather is hot. man gets tired. We’re slowly reaching the top. Then this magnificent door welcomes us.. All of a sudden, there is no fatigue with excitement.

Parthenon (Partenon)

Erechtheion

I don’t know how many photos we take around the Parthenon, we don’t see it later, we wander around. Located just behind the Parthenon and attracting our attention with its Caryatid Sculptures, this temple built for the Goddess Athena and God Poseidon, built in the 5th century BC, is a must.

This is a temple used as a church during the Byzantine period and a residence during the Ottoman period.. Only the originals of these female statues here are in the Acropolis Museum below.. Filopappou Hill

After descending from the Acropolis, we said let’s watch the sunset with a beautiful view.. We started walking towards the forested land right across from the Acropolis.. We enjoyed the wonderful view of Athens and the Acropolis from this hill, which is a 10-minute walk away.

After watching the view, this time we proceeded to Monastiraki from the opposite side of the direction we came from.. So we went around the Acropolis 360 degrees. Make sure you do this route yourself.. You can see it in a different area with very nice cafes and restaurants.

National Archaeological Museum (National Archaeological Museum)

We finished the most important part of the city on the first day.. The next day, places to visit in Athens are part of our route.. We are on our way to continue. There is some tiredness. In the evening, we had fun in the places I mentioned above.

Sometimes it is difficult to manage both at the same time.. Having fun at night? Exploring during the day? Anyway. Those of you who say museum as soon as you wake up in the morning. That’s why our first job is to come to this museum.. They are one of the world’s largest ancient Greek art museums.. The fathers of many architectural works that are an example to the world are exhibited here.

As soon as these famous streets are finished, they take us to the famous square. First, we start from this square, which is the Taksim square of our Greek brothers.. It is also the heart of the city in terms of transportation network.

Parliament Building

The main reason we came here is to see the Parliament building right across the square.. This place was used as Saraykent before and later as the parliament building.. In other words, statesmen and politicians you know run the country from here.. The building was built in 1836-1842.

We are walking around and breathing in this park located just behind the parliament building.. We get some relief from the sweltering heat of summer.
