We visited so many cities, we saw so many countries, but somehow we always postponed our trip to Westeros. It is not known whether it is because they keep reflecting it as dangerous or because of the anxiety that winter has come or will come, we constantly said “we will go next year” and postponed it.. However, the start of Turkish Airlines’ flights to Gotham and Westeros last month got us excited and we immediately got a promotional ticket.. Although the region is quite complicated both politically and in terms of White Walkers, we took everything into account and we had an incredibly enjoyable trip.. We say this from the very beginning, because we do not want you to not go to Westeros because it is dangerous. As in every country, if you act rationally there, you can have a nice trip without hurting you if you don’t go around with an “I love Westeros” t-shirt, a camera in your hand and shouting that I am a tourist.. As long as you don’t try to go to the homes of people you are not very friendly with, do not get too involved with the Lannisters, the Westeros branch of the Kardashians, and if you see a dragon, take shelter somewhere without wandering too much.. Reaching Westeros

As you know, Westeros and Essos continents “The Narrow Sea” ie The Narrow Sea separates. It’s easy to give general weather information for Westeros not. After all, we are talking about a huge continent, friends.. So you may experience different weather conditions in each part of Westeros.. Still, if we make a generalization:

-If you are going to Kings Landing and Dorne, we can say that the continental climate prevails in this region.. Hot and dry summers, cold, rainy and dangerous winters. You know winter is no joke in Westeros. You see, you’re out of gas, your eyes are ice blue, you’re walking around skin and bones.. For this reason, it may be better to coincide your Westeros trip with the summer months if possible.

-If you intend to travel to the north, the weather around Winterfell and the Wall is usually cold and snowy. , normal people take their flip-flops out of the suitcase and hipsters take their toilet slippers out of the suitcase, you can’t go around in Westeros in slouchy slippers.. Moreover, we are in the days when winter has not yet come.. Therefore, it is useful to bring clothes that are both more humane and suitable for deadly weather conditions.. Especially if you are going beyond the Wall, you should definitely bring outdoor clothes and shoes, because at many points you may have to walk on snow or rocks.

Budget for Westeros

*The North

Undoubtedly the most popular place to visit in The North, an area larger than the other six kingdoms combined Winterfell. If you wish, you can visit the underground cemetery after visiting the famous castle of the region, see the statues of the respected names of Winterfell, and exchange faces with the statues on Snapchat.. Unfortunately, there is no museum in Winterfell and nightlife is not very active due to the danger of death.. However, the wine and beer culture is quite developed.. We spent both evenings at a bar called “Ned’s Place” and we really enjoyed ourselves. They also offer nice snacks like pigeon quiche and crispy rabbit with buffalo sauce.. By the way, if you get bored in the evening, you can go to see the shows of the Winterfell Sword Shield Team, but it’s a bit too touristic, it’s a good idea to buy tickets online in advance.

*The Vale of Arryn

The most touristic spot of this region, also known as the Vale, will not surprise you much, because you will visit a castle again; The Eyrie Castle… Since the mountains around it make it difficult to access, you can only reach here in mild weather, so it’s a good idea to check the weather on didwintercome.com before going here.. It is really enjoyable to go up to the castle and photograph the panoramic view of the city.. But please pay attention to the big hole in the middle when taking pictures, it’s really dangerous. We have not been able to understand this irresponsible behavior of the Vale Municipality and we invite the authorities to come up with a solution to this problem.

*The Crownlands

The name Crownlands may not sound familiar to you. But if we say King’s Landing, the largest city and capital of Westeros, you will understand what we are talking about.. It would be beneficial to spend a few days here, because there is so much to see and do.. Unfortunately, you no longer have a chance to visit the castle here.. They have started to take great security measures, especially after the events such as the recent events such as Young Osman leaving Joffrey wearing 8 different colors and surrendering his soul, and Cersei’s walk of shame, and they no longer accept visitors.. However, you still have the chance to photograph the castle from the outside and visit the Royal Gardens (Royal Gardens).. You could take pictures on the Iron Throne when we went, but unfortunately, you have to forget this possibility right now.. We came to another of our favorite parts of our Westeros trip.. The Dornish people who are bubbly and prone to messing around, are a reason in itself to love this region.. However, let’s say from the beginning, it can be a bit difficult to go around during the day because it is quite hot in the summer.. We had the chance to tour the city with our close friend Oberyn Martell and frankly we were mostly drunk.. This is the best thing you can do in Dorne, which is already famous for its wines and spicy dishes; eat and drink. (they go a little too far, don’t mind) That’s why the nightlife is so fun. If you can manage to stay sober and love city parks, be sure to stop by Water Gardens.
