We reach Horma Canyon very early in the morning.. Everyone finds a place to sleep since we’ve been driving all night without sleep. It’s foggy and very, very cold. Kastamonu has such a feature. It’s hot during the day, but it’s cold at night and it always rains dew. From months to October (2020).

As soon as the sun shows its face, we get up and get ready for the canyon. Putting on the equipment takes a lot of time.. When everyone is ready, we merrily move towards the canyon.. We are a large group and there are those who come to the canyon for the first time. A short rope descent training is given as they have to make a rope descent in the canyon.. Then the canyon awaits us. You can finish it in a couple of hours by walking from the platform above.. You take pictures or something, but we struggle with the waters. We descend by rope from waterfalls. In deep places we jump into the water. The time to cross the canyon is always variable, depending on the number of athletes and novices.. Our goal is to get out of the canyon before it gets dark.

They used to call Horma Canyon the Aqua Park of the canyons with plenty of swimming and jumping. They were right.. As we cross the canyon below, we get a lot of applause from those walking above. They’re taking our pictures. In fact, in the next days, I get a message from social media from a person walking above.. He recognized it from my helmet.

When you enter the canyon, you can exit after making three descents.. Stairs made for walkers to descend into the canyon are the starting point for us.. The most important thing I need to write here is in the hands of the visitors Throwing the water bottles they brought to drink and the packaging of the wafers they brought into the canyon.. We collected these garbage in certain parts and put it in our bag, but after a while, it did not fit anywhere and we could not cope.. Even as we passed through the canyon, we witnessed the bottles descending from our heads.. Dude why are you doing this? Do you have the strength to carry the full but can’t carry the empty one? You turned the canyon into a garbage dump. What a pity. That water can’t take them. gets stuck on rocks. If he does, Ilıca Waterfall will be full of garbage.. Where do you think you are going?

Ilıca Waterfall

Horma Canyon waiting for us at the end of Ilica Waterfall is the favorite of recent years. It is like a corner of heaven that makes people happy after such a canyon crossing or hiking.. Our experienced athletes pass the canyon with the dream of jumping from the Ilıca Waterfall.. useless action for me. Maybe I’ll skip it in the future, but I don’t want to do that right now.. If there is time left to exit Ilıca Waterfall, we will set up a Zipline. I really enjoy Zipline but this time it’s about to get dark. For this reason, there is no time left for Zipline.. Travelers who walk the walking platform from above can call a taxi from the number written on the tree at the exit.. No misunderstanding. There is no road right next to the Ilıca Waterfall.. You have to walk for five or ten minutes and get to where the taxi is.. Even if you don’t call, there’s always a taxi. I say mus because we are wet and we have no plans to take a taxi. After crossing the canyon all day, we will walk back 3 km from the hiking platform.. I also see how the canyon looks from this walking platform in the twilight. it was really great. I wish we could have left a little earlier. By the way, the taxi fare costs 40 TL (October 2020).

Of course, I didn’t forget to get up early the next morning and walk to a certain part of the canyon and take pictures, but I would love to be able to walk to the end.. Towards the end the platform rises too high. It is very exciting…

Also, there are wonderful pancakes at the exit of Ilıca Waterfall.. Those who are hungry can reward themselves there and come back like that.

Horma Canyon Accommodation

Horma Canyon Camping – Caravan

Of course we will camp. Since we arrived very early in the morning, we did not bother with the camp.. We need a place where we can dry our gear and camp for the evening.. We were able to camp in the woods of the facility at the entrance of Horma Canyon.. They said that it is not normally allowed, but they allowed it because we were constantly going and it was out of season.. Someone else was camping though. You should ask if it’s possible when you go. An officer keeps the entrance and exit at the gate under control.. Canyon entrances are under the control of Pınarbaşı Municipality, but the facility has become a private enterprise.. The place where we camped was also considered as a camping area by the municipality, but we will see what happens after it becomes a private enterprise. There was a restaurant in the facility when I went.. In addition, souvenir shops will be active in places such as cafes.. When? After Eid al-Fitr.

When to go to Horma Canyon?

We preferred the restaurants in Pınarbaşı to eat. We can’t find Black Soup in the evening.. He’s going out in the morning. We even go back to our campsite and light our campfire in a tin.. I also dry my hammock. We turn on the music. Canyon exit body is tired but happy. I fall asleep in the hammock with pleasant conversations.
